    Abstract The researches on the behavior of very-high-cycle fatigue (VHCF) for high strength steels have become a new branch in the field of metal fatigue since 1980s. The characteristics of crack initiation and propagation for high strength steels in VHCF regime differ from those in low cycle and high cycle fatigue regimes. One of the most distinct phenomena for VHCF regime is the interior or subsurface crack initiation at inclusions or at other inhomogeneities.     Study on Shear Test of New Style Automotive Structural Adhesive using Digital Image Correlation Method

    Abstract In this paper, digital image correlation method (DICM) is employed to measure the shear behavior of the spot welding specimens and the ones using adhesive under quasi-static lap shear testing. The images of the specimens' surfaces are captured in real-time by CCD and corresponding computer system. DICM is subsequently used to obtained strain by correlating the images captured before and after deformation.     Abstract This paper proposes unsupervised system identification based methods to estimate time-series fatigue damage states in real-time. Ultrasound broadband input is used for active damage interrogation. Novel damage index estimation techniques based on dual sensor signals are proposed. The dual sensor configuration is used to remove electrical noise, as well as to improve spatial resolution in damage state estimation.     Abstract We propose an image correction method that will accurately measure full-field displacement in a microstructure using the digital image correlation method (DICM); the proposed method is suitable for use with laser-scanned images. Laser scanning microscopes have higher spatial resolution and deeper depth of field than optical microscopes, but errors in laser scanning position (time-dependent distortion) affect the accuracy of the DICM. The proposed image correction method involves the removal of both time-dependant and time-independent distortions.     Correlation of CT scan versus plain radiography for measuring urinary stone dimensions

    Abstract Objectives: To correlate the measured dimensions of urinary stones from spiral non-contrast computerized tomography (CT) with that of plain radiography (KUB).
    Methods: The transverse diameter as reported on CT was compared to the measured transverse diameter on KUB for 61 stones. The transverse and craniocaudal dimensions on CT were then re-measured for 30 urinary stones and again compared to the re-measured values for KUB. The craniocaudal dimension on CT was determined by measuring the stone on reconstructed coronal CT images.     Abstract Objective: The current standard of care for radiographically identified enhancing renal lesions is surgical removal. However, some of these lesions prove to be benign and did not truly warrant extirpation. Mass size has been traditionally described as a parameter to predict the malignant potential.
