    Nouf Saeed Alotaibi*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.76, No.2, pp. 2061-2078, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.039446

Abstract Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is a network security mechanism that analyses all users’ and applications’ traffic and detects malicious activities in real-time. The existing IDS methods suffer from lower accuracy and lack the required level of security to prevent sophisticated attacks. This problem can result in the system being vulnerable to attacks, which can lead to the loss of sensitive data and potential system failure. Therefore, this paper proposes an Intrusion Detection System using Logistic Tanh-based Convolutional Neural Network Classification (LTH-CNN). Here, the Correlation Coefficient based Mayfly Optimization (CC-MA) algorithm is used to extract the input characteristics for the IDS… More >

    Pan Li1, Xiaochao Jin1, Pin Lv1, Xueling Fan1,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.26, No.1, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.010540

Abstract Refurbishment of thermal barrier coating (TBC) has become a valuable technique to prolong the service life of high-temperature components. In this work, the effect of refurbishment process on the oxidation behaviors of TBC was investigated. Before recoating, the soft chemical stripping method was used to remove TBC from DD6 single-crystal superalloy. The results showed that a certain amount of IDZ layer with Cr-rich would be retained in the DD6 superalloy substrate after coating removal. The characteristics of the β phases change from the elongated grain shapes and a high aspect ratio in the ordinary specimens to the equiaxed shape in… More >

    Lifeng Gan1, Baoyin Zhu2, Chao Ling1,*, Esteban P. Busso1, Dongfeng Li1

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.25, No.3, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.010397

Abstract Heat-resistant austenitic stainless steels are widely used in the final stages of superheater and reheater in in the new generation of fossil fuel power stations, due to their high creep strength. Similar weld joints, fabricated using gas tungsten arc welding, for connecting different components made of the heat resistant austenitic stainless steels usually suffer from premature failures at elevated temperature [1]. Experimental studies showed that cracks may nucleate in the heat affected zone or weld metal of the similar welded joints under service conditions. In order to reveal the physical origin of unexpected failures of the weld joints, a microstructure-based… More >

An In Vitro Study of Correlation Between the Compositions, Structure and Mechanical Properties of the Arterial Plaque

    Mohamed Abdulsalam1, Jiling Feng1,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.25, No.2, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09884

Abstract Atherosclerosis developed in the arterial wall is the major cause of cardiovascular events such as stroke and heart failure. Atherosclerosis, also referred to as arterial plaque can be classified as stable, unstable, and vulnerable plaque. In terms of the features of compositions and structures, atherosclerosis also can be classified as calcified plaque, the plaque with a lipid core, and plaque with a thin fibrous cap. It is expected that the compositions, structures, and mechanical properties of the plaques interrelate with each other. The correlations between the compositions, structure, and mechanical properties are expected to characterize the nature of the rupture… More >

The Structure-Vibration-Deformation Correlation in Amorphous Metals

    Yunjiang Wang1,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.25, No.1, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09979

Abstract It is a textbook knowledge that the mechanical properties of crystalline solids are determined by the performances of their defects under certain circumstances of external stress and temperature. However, such a belief in crystals meets difficulty in amorphous solids, in which the concept of defect is hard to define. In this talk, I would like to talk about the unusual structure-property of amorphous metals from three different perspectives – in terms of their structural, vibrational and deformation characteristics. We try to build a super structure-property relationship in the general amorphous solids by machine learning strategy after we realized that their… More >

    Abdel Nasser H. Zaied1, Ehab Rushdy2, Mona Gamal3,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.47, No.2, pp. 1349-1364, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.033596

Abstract Acute leukemia is an aggressive disease that has high mortality rates worldwide. The error rate can be as high as 40% when classifying acute leukemia into its subtypes. So, there is an urgent need to support hematologists during the classification process. More than two decades ago, researchers used microarray gene expression data to classify cancer and adopted acute leukemia as a test case. The high classification accuracy they achieved confirmed that it is possible to classify cancer subtypes using microarray gene expression data. Ensemble machine learning is an effective method that combines individual classifiers to classify new samples. Ensemble classifiers… More >

Nidhal Hnaiena , Salwa Marzouka , Lioua Kolsia,b,*, Abdullah A.A.A. Al-Rashedc , Habib Ben Aissiaa , Jacques Jayd

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.11, pp. 1-11, 2018, DOI:10.5098/hmt.11.8

Abstract The purpose of the present paper is to numerically investigate two plane turbulent parallel jets using CFD model. A parametric study was carried out to evaluate the simultaneous effect of the nozzle spacing and the velocity ratio on the merge point (MP), the combined points (CP) as well as the upper (UVC) and lower (LVC) vortices centers positions. Results show that the velocity ratio significantly affects twin-parallel jets flow structure. In fact, increasing the velocity ratio moves the MP, CP, UVC and LVC further upstream along the longitudinal direction while deflecting toward the stronger jet along the transverse direction. Mo Yanga,*, Xiaoming Wanga, Zhiyun Wanga, Zheng Lib , Yuwen Zhangb

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.11, pp. 1-6, 2018, DOI:10.5098/hmt.11.7

Abstract Turbulent convective heat transfer in an elliptical pipe are investigated numerically in this paper. The RSM model is employed in the simulations of elliptical tubes with different aspect ratio a/b and Reynolds numbers within the range of 10,000~120,000. It is found that the maximum deviation between the numerical result and the one from Dittus-Boelter equation contained a hydraulic diameter is 28.4%. Based on simulation results, the correlation between the Nusselt number and Reynolds number in the fully developed fluid section of the elliptical tube is obtained. More >
