MAURA BENEDETTI, MARIA ELISA GIULIANI, MARICA MEZZELANI, ALESSANDRO NARDI, LUCIA PITTURA, STEFANIA GORBI, FRANCESCO REGOLI

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 37-49, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.017507 - 28 September 2021

Abstract Oxidative stress is a critical condition derived from the imbalance between the generation of reactive oxygen species and the sophisticated network of antioxidant mechanisms. Several pollutants and environmental factors can affect this system through connected mechanisms, indirect relationships, and cascade effects from pre-transcriptional to catalytic level, by either enhancing intracellular ROS formation or impairing antioxidant defenses. This review summarizes the current knowledge on the pro-oxidant challenges from emerging environmental stressors threatening marine organisms, such as pharmaceuticals, microplastics and climate-related ocean changes. Emphasis will be placed on oxidative pathways, including signaling proteins and transcription factors involved More >

    Chen Chen1,2, Haitao Li1,2,*, Assima Dauletbek1,2, Feng Shen3, David Hui4, Milan Gaff5, Rodolfo Lorenzo6, Ileana Corbi7, Ottavia Corbi7, Mahmud Ashraf8

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.3, pp. 605-624, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.018685 - 28 September 2021

Abstract Fibers are used in many forms in engineering applications–one of the most common being used as reinforcement. Due to its renewable short natural growth cycle and abundance of bamboo resources, bamboo fiber has attracted attention over other natural fibers. Bamboo fiber has a complex natural structure but offers excellent mechanical properties, which are utilized in the textile, papermaking, construction, and composites industry. However, bamboo fibers can easily absorb moisture and are prone to corrosion limiting their use in engineering applications. Therefore, a better understanding of bamboo fiber is particularly important. This paper reviews all existing More >

Reversible Logic Based MOS Current Mode Logic Implementation in Digital Circuits

    S. Sharmila Devi1,*, V. Bhanumathi2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.2, pp. 3609-3624, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.020426 - 27 September 2021

Abstract Now a days, MOS Current Mode Logic (MCML) has emerged as a better alternative to Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) logic in digital circuits. Recent works have only traditional logic gates that have issues with information loss. Reversible logic is incorporated with MOS Current Mode Logic (MCML) in this proposed work to solve this problem, which is used for multiplier design, D Flip-Flop (DFF) and register. The minimization of power and area is the main aim of the work. In reversible logic, the count of outputs and inputs is retained as the same value for… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.1, pp. 449-469, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.019959 - 03 September 2021

Abstract Transformerless inverters have become an important integration of the modern photovoltaic (PV) grid-tied systems. Unfortunately, it has a general safety problem regarding the earth leakage current that must be less than the recommended standards. Lately, the H7 transformerless inverter, which is a three-phase inverter with an additional switch on the DC side, is introduced to mitigate the earth leakage current. Different modulation techniques and controllers are proposed to optimize its performance. This paper proposed the application of model predictive control (MPC) to grid-connected H7 transformerless inverter supplied by the PV power system. In modeling the… More >

    Canadian Journal of Urology, Vol.28, No.1, pp. 10565-10567, 2021

Abstract Prostate cancer is rarely metastatic to visceral organs, and even less commonly to the brain. Recent data suggests brain metastasis from prostatic adenocarcinoma occur in 0.16% of patients, and almost universally in the setting of very high-volume disease. We present a man with an abruptly symptomatic brain lesion that developed at a PSA value of 1.5 ng/mL with no other known metastatic disease and required emergent neurosurgical resection. The patient had been initially treated with radiotherapy for Grade Group 4 prostate cancer in 2005 with a long period of PSA suppression. More >
