    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.9, No.5, pp. 1031-1043, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2021.014109

Abstract The durability of bamboo based on its chemical and mechanical properties is a crucial consideration for the wood-based industry due to its vulnerability to insects and microorganisms. We investigated the dynamic changes of chemical and mechanical properties of Phyllostachys edulis under air-dry and water storage conditions for 3, 6 and 12 months respectively. The chemical properties of P. edulis bamboo culms varied with culm age but insignificantly with culm height. The mechanical properties of P. edulis culms showed an increasing trend with culm age. Water storage condition decreased the ash, SiO2 and lignin content, but increased the ethanol-benzene extracts. It… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.2, pp. 1745-1755, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.013066

Abstract Currently, COVID-19 is spreading all over the world and profoundly impacting people’s lives and economic activities. In this paper, a novel approach called the COVID-19 Quantum Neural Network (CQNN) for predicting the severity of COVID-19 in patients is proposed. It consists of two phases: In the first, the most distinct subset of features in a dataset is identified using a Quick Reduct Feature Selection (QRFS) method to improve its classification performance; and, in the second, machine learning is used to train the quantum neural network to classify the risk. It is found that patients’ serial blood counts (their numbers of… More >

Prediction Model of Abutment Pressure Affected by Far-Field Hard Stratum Based on Elastic Foundation Theory

    Zhimin Zhang, Tianhe Kang*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 341-357, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.012104

Abstract In view of the three-dimensional dynamic abutment pressure, the influence of the far-field hard stratum (FHS) in deep, thick coal seams is indeterminant. Based on elastic foundation theory, a three-dimensional dynamic prediction model of the abutment pressure was established. Using this model, the dynamic change in the coal seam abutment pressure caused by the movement of the FHS was studied, and a method for determining the dynamic change range of the abutment pressure was developed. The results of the new prediction model of the abutment pressure are slightly higher than the measured values, with an error of 0.51%, which avoids… More >

Analyzing Dynamic Change in Social Network Based on Distribution-Free Multivariate Process Control Method

    Yan Liu1,*, Lian Liu1, Yu Yan2, Hao Feng1, Shichang Ding3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.60, No.3, pp. 1123-1139, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05619

Abstract Social organizations can be represented by social network because it can mathematically quantify and represent complex interrelated organizational behavior. Exploring the change in dynamic social network is essential for the situation awareness of the corresponding social organization. Social network usually evolves gradually and slightly, which is hard to be noticed. The statistical process control techniques in industry field have been used to distinguish the statistically significant change of social network. But the original method is narrowed due to some limitation on measures. This paper presents a generic framework to address the change detection problem in dynamic social network and introduces… More >
