    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.64, No.1, pp. 501-514, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.010048

Abstract In this paper, maximizing energy efficiency (EE) through radio resource allocation for renewable energy powered heterogeneous cellular networks (HetNet) with energy sharing, is investigated. Our goal is to maximize the network EE, conquer the instability of renewable energy sources and guarantee the fairness of users during allocating resources. We define the objective function as a sum weighted EE of all links in the HetNet. We formulate the resource allocation problem in terms of subcarrier assignment, power allocation and energy sharing, as a mixed combinatorial and non-convex optimization problem. We propose an energy efficient resource allocation scheme, including a centralized resource… More >

    Sheng Xiao1, 2, *, Jing Selena He3, Xi Yang4, Yazhe Wang1, Lu Jin1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.63, No.3, pp. 1357-1371, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.09929

Abstract As nanoscale processing becomes the mainstream in IC manufacturing, the crosstalk problem rises as a serious challenge, not only for energy-efficiency and performance but also for security requirements. In this paper, we propose a register reallocation algorithm called Nearby Access based Register Reallocation (NARR) to reduce the crosstalk between instruction buses. The method includes construction of the software Nearby Access Aware Interference Graph (NAIG), using data flow analysis at assembly level, and reallocation of the registers to the software. Experimental results show that the crosstalk could be dramatically minimized, especially for 4C crosstalk, with a reduction of 80.84% in average,… More >

Xiaohong Yin, Zui Tao, Jiana Chen, Fangbo Cao, Min Huang*, Yingbin Zou

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.89, No.2, pp. 415-422, 2020, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2020.08962

Abstract It has been shown that adding biochar to soil can improve nitrogen (N) uptake and utilization in rice (Oryza sativa L.). However, there is a lack of research on the physiological alterations of rice as a result of the changes in nitrogen uptake due to the addition of biochar. This study conducted field experiments in 2015 and 2016 with the goal of testing the hypothesis that the application of biochar would enhance radiation use efficiency (RUE) of rice by improving the plant’s ability to take in and utilize nitrogen. Our results demonstrated that the application of biochar (20 t ha−1More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.63, No.2, pp. 787-811, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.07620

Abstract Energy efficiency is very important for the Internet of Things (IoT), especially for front-end sensed terminal or node. It not only embodies the node’s life, but also reflects the lifetime of the network. Meanwhile, it is also a key indicator of green communications. Unfortunately, there is no article on systematic analysis and review for energy efficiency evaluation in IoT. In this paper, we systemically analyze the architecture of IoT, and point out its energy distribution, Furthermore, we summarized the energy consumption model in IoT, analyzed the pros and cons of improving energy efficiency, presented a state of the art the… More >

Adsorption Behavior of Reducing End-Modified Cellulose Nanocrystals: A Kinetic Study Using Quartz Crystal Microbalance

Maud Chemin, Céline Moreau, Bernard Cathala, Ana Villares*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.8, No.1, pp. 29-43, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2020.07850

Abstract In this work, we studied the adsorption of modified cellulose nanocrystals onto solid surfaces by quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring (QCM-D). Cellulose nanocrystals obtained from tunicate (CNC) were modified at reducing end by amidation reactions. Two different functionalities were investigated: a polyamine dendrimer (CNC-NH2), which interacts with gold surface by the amine groups; and a biotin moiety (CNC-Biot), which has a strong affinity for the protein streptavidin (SAV). QCM-D results revealed different adsorption behaviors between modified and unmodified CNCs. Hence, unmodified CNCs covered almost all the surface forming a rigid and flat layer whereas reducing end modified CNCs remained… More >

Biofilter efficiency of Eichhornia crassipes in wastewater treatment of fish farming in Amazonia

    Rubim MAL1, PR Isolino Sampaio1, P Parolin2,3

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.84, No.1, pp. 244-251, 2015, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2015.84.244

Abstract Fish is a very important part of the human diet in Amazonia. Near the growing cities, fish populations and individual size have decreased over the past decades. Alternatives to traditional and industrial fishing arise, including fish farming. Strategies to minimize the impact of fish farms on the environment are needed to have a regular and healthy fish supply. This is to avoid a reduction of biodiversity, a depletion of natural resources, and/or the induction of significant changes in the structure and functioning of adjacent ecosystems. Very little research has been performed on management of effluents as to maintain the quality… More >

    Castellanos-Pérez1 E, AG de Soyza2, GB Donart3

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.77, pp. 297-320, 2008, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2008.77.297

Abstract The study was conducted in the Chihuahuan Desert Rangeland Research Center, 32 km north of Las Cruces, NM, USA. Physiological responses of the shrub Larrea tridentata (DC) Cov. and the perennial grass Muhlenbergia porteri Scribn were determined from the summer 1997 to the winter 1998-99 when they grew together. In the summer 1997, Larrea tridentata competed for water with M. porteri, as shrubs growing alone showed higher integrated photosynthesis than shrubs in competition with M. porteri following a heavy rainfall event. Larrea tridentata had lower water use efficiency (WUE) than M. porteri plants. In the summer 1998, M. porteri had… More >
