    Lingai Guo1, Marwan Fahs2, Hussein Hoteit3, Rui Gao1,*, Qian Shao1,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.129, No.1, pp. 279-297, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.016619 - 24 August 2021

Abstract Numerical modeling of seepage-induced consolidation process usually encounters significant uncertainty in the properties of geotechnical materials. Assessing the effect of uncertain parameters on the performance variability of the seepage consolidation model is of critical importance to the simulation and tests of this process. To this end, the uncertainty and sensitivity analyses are performed on a seepage consolidation model in a fractured porous medium using the Bayesian sparse polynomial chaos expansion (SPCE) method. Five uncertain parameters including Young’s modulus, Poisson’s ratio, and the permeability of the porous matrix, the permeability within the fracture, and Biot’s constant… More >

    Hulya Durur1, Asıf Yokuş2, Doğan Kaya3, Hijaz Ahmad4,*

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.55, No.3, pp. 241-251, 2021, DOI:10.32604/sv.2021.014157 - 15 July 2021

Abstract In this paper, sub equation and expansion methods are proposed to construct exact solutions of a nonlinear longitudinal wave equation (LWE) in a magneto-electro-elastic circular rod. The proposed methods have been used to construct hyperbolic, rational, dark soliton and trigonometric solutions of the LWE in the magneto-electro-elastic circular rod. Arbitrary values are given to the parameters in the solutions obtained. 3D, 2D and contour graphs are presented with the help of a computer package program. Solutions attained by symbolic calculations revealed that these methods are effective, reliable and simple mathematical tool for finding solutions of More >

Topology and Shape Optimization of 2-D and 3-D Micro-Architectured Thermoelastic Metamaterials Using a Parametric Level Set Method

    Ellie Vineyard1, Xin-Lin Gao2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.127, No.3, pp. 819-854, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.015688 - 24 May 2021

Abstract 2-D and 3-D micro-architectured multiphase thermoelastic metamaterials are designed and analyzed using a parametric level set method for topology optimization and the finite element method. An asymptotic homogenization approach is employed to obtain the effective thermoelastic properties of the multiphase metamaterials. The -constraint multi-objective optimization method is adopted in the formulation. The coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and Poisson’s ratio (PR) are chosen as two objective functions, with the CTE optimized and the PR treated as a constraint. The optimization problems are solved by using the method of moving asymptotes. Effective isotropic and anisotropic CTEs More >

    Park Chan-Yeob, Hyun-Ro Jae, Jun-Yong Jang, Song Hyoung-Kyu*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 137-148, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016108 - 22 March 2021

Abstract Linear precoding methods such as zero-forcing (ZF) are near optimal for downlink massive multi-user multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems due to their asymptotic channel property. However, as the number of users increases, the computational complexity of obtaining the inverse matrix of the gram matrix increases. For solving the computational complexity problem, this paper proposes an improved Jacobi (JC)-based precoder to improve error performance of the conventional JC in the downlink massive MIMO systems. The conventional JC was studied for solving the high computational complexity of the ZF algorithm and was able to achieve parallel… More >

An Uncertainty Analysis Method for Artillery Dynamics with Hybrid Stochastic and Interval Parameters

    Liqun Wang1, Zengtao Chen2, Guolai Yang1,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.126, No.2, pp. 479-503, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.011954 - 21 January 2021

Abstract This paper proposes a non-intrusive uncertainty analysis method for artillery dynamics involving hybrid uncertainty using polynomial chaos expansion (PCE). The uncertainty parameters with sufficient information are regarded as stochastic variables, whereas the interval variables are used to treat the uncertainty parameters with limited stochastic knowledge. In this method, the PCE model is constructed through the Galerkin projection method, in which the sparse grid strategy is used to generate the integral points and the corresponding integral weights. Through the sampling in PCE, the original dynamic systems with hybrid stochastic and interval parameters can be transformed into… More >

    Zenghuan Gu1, Aiguo Fang2, Sudong Hua1,*, Qingzhou Zhao2, Lidong Sun2, Fan Xia2, Liying Qian3, Xiaojian Ren3

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.9, No.2, pp. 253-268, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2021.011912 - 15 December 2020

Abstract The research used industrial by-products original phosphogypsum (PG) as the main raw material, slag (SG) and Portland cement (PC) as auxiliary materials, and the optimal additive amount was determined according to the compressive strength value of the sample. Comprehensively evaluate the water resistance and volume stability of the samples, and determine the best formula for new roadbed stabilized materials. The results showed that when the weight ratio of PG, slag and cement was OPG:SG:PC = 6:3:1, and mixed with 5% micro silica fume (MSF) and 3‰ hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC), the sample’s comprehensive performance was… More >

City-Level Homogeneous Blocks Identification for IP Geolocation

Fuxiang Yuan, Fenlin Liu, Chong Liu, Xiangyang Luo*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.26, No.6, pp. 1403-1417, 2020, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2020.011902 - 24 December 2020

Abstract IPs in homogeneous blocks are tightly connected and close to each other in topology and geography, which can help geolocate sensitive target IPs and maintain network security. Therefore, this manuscript proposes a city-level homogeneous blocks identification algorithm for IP geolocation. Firstly, IPs with consistent geographic location information in multiple databases and some landmarks in a specific area are obtained as targets; the /31 containing each target is used as a candidate block; vantage points are deployed to probe IPs in the candidate blocks to obtain delays and paths, and alias resolution is performed. Then, based on… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.13, pp. 1-5, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.13.25

Abstract A numerical analysis for the effect of a cylinder diameter on the state quantities for the irreversible process in a piston-cylinder system was conducted using the LB1S model. The numerical method is based on the ALE method. The cylinder-diameter range of D=0.01 m to 0.10 m was chosen. The effect of the cylinder-diameter on the state quantities was slight in the single compression with the piston velocity of -10 m/s. The ratio of the average pressure to the pressure of the reversible process at the end of the first cycle ranged from 1.00023 to 1.00462 in More >

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.16, Suppl.1, pp. 37-37, 2019, DOI:10.32604/mcb.2019.05717

Abstract In order to explore the effect of aortic sinus diameter on aortic valve opening and closing performance in the case that aortic valve itself has no obvious disease and aortic root expands continuously. In this study, 20 groups of aortic root models with different aortic sinus and root diameters were constructed according to the size of clinical surgical guidance to simulate the possible expansion of aortic root at the later stage of operation. The valve sinus diameter DS were set to 32 mm, 36 mm, 40 mm and 44 mm, the aortic root diameter DA… More >
