    Ming He1,2, Hongbin Wang1,*, Lianke Zhou1, Pengming Wang3, Andrew Ju4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.57, No.3, pp. 521-532, 2018, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2018.03710

Abstract An important issue for deep learning models is the acquisition of training of data. Without abundant data from a real production environment for training, deep learning models would not be as widely used as they are today. However, the cost of obtaining abundant real-world environment is high, especially for underwater environments. It is more straightforward to simulate data that is closed to that from real environment. In this paper, a simple and easy symmetric learning data augmentation model (SLDAM) is proposed for underwater target radiate-noise data expansion and generation. The SLDAM, taking the optimal classifier… More >

    A. Vijayalakshmi, S. Srinivas*

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.7, pp. 1-11, 2016, DOI:10.5098/hmt.7.10

Abstract In the present study, the flow and heat transfer characteristics of a nanofluid in an expanding or contracting porous channel with different permeabilities in presence of thermal radiation are investigated. Analytical solutions for the flow variables are obtained by employing homotopy analysis method (HAM). Maxwell-Garnetts and Brinkman models are considered to calculate the thermal conductivity and the viscosity of nanofluid. In this investigation, we considered water and ethylene glycol as base fluids and silver ( Ag ), copper ( Cu ), titanium dioxide ( TiO2 ) and alumina ( Al2O3 ) as nanoparticles. The effects of various More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.109-110, No.6, pp. 537-554, 2015, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2015.109.537

Abstract This article focuses on the analytical solution for uniform heating of a FGM hollow sphere made of two phase of different materials. It is assumed that the volume fraction of one phase is a function f1=(rn-an)/(bn-an) varied in the radial direction. Based on the Voigt constant strain approximation, analytical solutions of stresses, displacements and the effective coefficient of thermal expansion are obtained. The effects of the volume fraction, Poisson’s ratio, Young’s moduli and coefficients of thermal expansion on the solutions are studied. Two special cases, constant elastic modulus and constant coefficient of thermal expansion, are More >

Abstract In this study, the solitary wave solutions for third order equal-width wave-Burgers (EW-Burgers) equation, the second order Bratu and sinh-Bratu type equations will be discussed. The EW-Burgers equation models the propagation of nonlinear and dispersive waves with certain dissipative effects and furthermore the Bratu type problem appears a simplification of the solid fuel ignition model in thermal combustion theory. Our methodology, is investigated by using (G'/G)- expansion method. The obtained results can be extended to the other models. More >

    Jin Li1,2, Hongxing Ru1, Dehao Yu3,4

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.97, No.6, pp. 463-482, 2014, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2014.097.463

Abstract The computation with Simpson’s rule for the supersingular integrals on circle is discussed. When the singular point coincides with some priori known point, the convergence rate of the Simpson rule is higher than the globally one which is considered as the superconvergence phenomenon. Then the error functional of density function is derived and the superconvergence phenomenon of composite Simpson rule occurs at certain local coordinate of each subinterval. Based on the error functional, a modify quadrature is presented. At last, numerical examples are provided to validate the theoretical analysis and show the efficiency of the More >

    Jin Li1,2, De-hao Yu3,4

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.102, No.2, pp. 103-126, 2014, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2014.102.103

Abstract The generalized composite middle rectangle rule for the computation of Hilbert integral is discussed. The pointwise superconvergence phenomenon is presented, i.e., when the singular point coincides with some a priori known point, the convergence rate of the rectangle rule is higher than what is global possible. We proved that the superconvergence rate of the composite middle rectangle rule occurs at certain local coordinate of each subinterval and the corresponding superconvergence error estimate is obtained. By choosing the superconvergence point as the collocation points, a collocation scheme for solving the relevant Hilbert integral equation is presented More >

Matrix Crack Detection in Composite Plate with Spatially Random Material Properties using Fractal Dimension

    K. Umesh1, R. Ganguli1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.41, No.3, pp. 215-240, 2014, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2014.041.215

Abstract Fractal dimension based damage detection method is investigated for a composite plate with random material properties. Composite material shows spatially varying random material properties because of complex manufacturing processes. Matrix cracks are considered as damage in the composite plate. Such cracks are often seen as the initial damage mechanism in composites under fatigue loading and also occur due to low velocity impact. Static deflection of the cantilevered composite plate with uniform loading is calculated using the finite element method. Damage detection is carried out based on sliding window fractal dimension operator using the static deflection. More >

A Stochastic Multi-Scale Model for Prediction of the Autogenous Shrinkage Deformations of Early-age Concrete

    S. Liu1, X. Liu2,3, Y. Yuan2, P. F. He1, H. A. Mang2,4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.39, No.2, pp. 85-112, 2014, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2014.039.085

Abstract Autogenous shrinkage is defined as the bulk deformation of a closed, isothermal, cement-based material system, which is not subjected to external forces. It is associated with the hydration process of the cement paste. From the viewpoint of engineering practice, autogenous shrinkage deformations result in an increase of tensile stresses, which may lead to cracking of early-age concrete. Since concrete is a multi-phase composite with different material compositions and microscopic configurations at different scales, autogenous shrinkage does not only depend on the hydration of the cement paste, but also on the mechanical properties of the constituents… More >

EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF COEFFICIENT OF THERMAL EXPANSION OF ALIGNED GRAPHITE THERMAL INTERFACE MATERIALS

    Hsiu-Hung Chena , Yuan Zhaob, Chung-Lung Chena,*

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.4, No.1, pp. 1-7, 2013, DOI:10.5098/hmt.v4.1.3004

Abstract Carbon-based materials draw more and more attention from both academia and industry: its allotropes, including graphene nanoplatlets, graphite nanoplatlets and carbon nanotubes, can readily enhance thermal conductivity of thermal interface products when served as fillers. Structuraloptimization in micro/nano-scale has been investigated and expected to finely tune the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of thermal interface materials (TIMs). The capability of adjusting CTE of materials greatly benefits the design of interface materials as CTE mismatch between materials may result in serious fatigue at the interface region that goes through thermal cycles. Recently, a novel nano-thermal-interface material… More >

Thermal Expansion Behavior of Single Helical Clearance Structure

    Cao Guohua1, Zhu Zhencai1, Peng Weihong2, Wang Jinjie1, Liu Zhi1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.94, No.2, pp. 119-138, 2013, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2013.094.119

Abstract The single helical structure is twisted by surrounding helical units with clearance or not between two layers. In order to master the thermal expansion behavior, the theory has been developed for the analysis of these helical structures. The previously deduced linear expressions of thermal expansion coefficients for the gapless structure model (GM) is used and the analytical method is applied to the clearance structure model (CM) and clearance-gapless structure model(CGM) under two boundary conditions. For further evaluating the analytical expressions of two models, the finite element models of the single helical structure surrounding by helical… More >
