    P. Rajeswari*, K. Jayashree

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.41, No.2, pp. 511-524, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.020352

Abstract Recent advancements in cloud computing (CC) technologies signified that several distinct web services are presently developed and exist at the cloud data centre. Currently, web service composition gains maximum attention among researchers due to its significance in real-time applications. Quality of Service (QoS) aware service composition concerned regarding the election of candidate services with the maximization of the whole QoS. But these models have failed to handle the uncertainties of QoS. The resulting QoS of composite service identified by the clients become unstable and subject to risks of failing composition by end-users. On the other hand, trip planning is an… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.3, pp. 1511-1528, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.020551

Abstract Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) become an integral part of Internet of Things (IoT) and finds their applicability in several domains. As classical WSN faces several issues in service-based IoT applications, fog computing has been introduced in real-time, enabling local data processing and avoid raw data transmission to cloud servers. The Fog-based WSN generally involves advanced nodes, normal nodes, and some Fog Nodes (FN). Though the Fog-based WSN offers several benefits, there is a need to develop an effective trust-based secure routing protocol for data transmission among Cluster Heads (CHs) and FNs. In this view, this paper presents a Quantum Firefly… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 305-321, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.019171

Abstract Location information plays an important role in most of the applications in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). Recently, many localization techniques have been proposed, while most of these deals with two Dimensional applications. Whereas, in Three Dimensional applications the task is complex and there are large variations in the altitude levels. In these 3D environments, the sensors are placed in mountains for tracking and deployed in air for monitoring pollution level. For such applications, 2D localization models are not reliable. Due to this, the design of 3D localization systems in WSNs faces new challenges. In this paper, in order to find… More >

    K. Gayathri Devi*, R. S. Mishra, A. K. Madan

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.1, pp. 429-448, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.019330

Abstract An NP-hard problem like Flexible Job Shop Scheduling (FJSP) tends to be more complex and requires more computational effort to optimize the objectives with contradictory measures. This paper aims to address the FJSP problem with combined and contradictory objectives, like minimization of make-span, maximum workload, and total workload. This paper proposes ‘Hybrid Adaptive Firefly Algorithm’ (HAdFA), a new enhanced version of the classic Firefly Algorithm (FA) embedded with adaptive parameters to optimize the multi objectives concurrently. The proposed algorithm has adopted two adaptive strategies, i.e., an adaptive randomization parameter (α) and an effective heterogeneous update rule for fireflies. The adaptations… More >

    Nawaf N. Hamadneh1, Waqar A. Khan2, Ilyas Khan3, *

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.65, No.2, pp. 1015-1032, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.011476

Abstract One of the most significant considerations in the design of a heat sink is thermal management due to increasing thermal flux and miniature in size. These heat sinks utilize plate or pin fins depending upon the required heat dissipation rate. They are designed to optimize overall performance. Elliptical pin fin heat sinks enhance heat transfer rates and reduce the pumping power. In this study, the Firefly Algorithm is implemented to optimize heat sinks with elliptical pin-fins. The pin-fins are arranged in an inline fashion. The natureinspired metaheuristic algorithm performs powerfully and efficiently in solving numerical global optimization problems. Based on… More >
