    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.3, pp. 4835-4853, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.023912 - 14 January 2022

Abstract For heat transfer enhancement in heat exchangers, different types of channels are often tested. The performance of heat exchangers can be made better by considering geometry composed of sinusoidally curved walls. This research studies the modeling and simulation of airflow through a units long sinusoidally curved wavy channel. For the purpose, two-dimensional Navier Stokes equations along with heat equations are under consideration. To simulate the fluid flow problem, the finite element-based software COMSOL Multiphysics is used. The parametric study for Reynolds number from to and the period of vibration P from to are observed. Abstract The energy produced by the melting stretching disks surface has a wide range of commercial applications, including semi-conductor material preparation, magma solidification, permafrost melting, and frozen land refreezing, among others. In view of this, in the current communication we analyzed magnetohydrodynamic flow of Maxwell nanofluid between two parallel rotating disks. Nanofluids are important due to their astonishing properties in heat conduction flows and in the enhancement of electronic and manufacturing devices. Furthermore, the distinct tiny-sized particles and in the Maxwell water-based fluid for enhancing the heat transfer rate are analyzed. The heat equation is developed… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.130, No.1, pp. 205-220, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.017304 - 29 November 2021

Abstract In this numerical study, the effect of quartic autocatalysis type of chemical reaction, buoyancy force and thermal radiation phenomenon and magnetic effect on tangent hyperbolic nanofluid past an upper horizontal surface of a paraboloid has been studied. By considering the Buongiorno model approach, a diffusion of unequal coefficients in the presence of gyrotactic microorganism is discussed. Implementation of microorganism's idea is used to stabilize the nanoparticles through bioconvection. The modeled PDEs of the problems are converted into nonlinear ODEs with the assistant of the similarity transformations. To tackle nonlinear ODEs, MATLAB package bvp4c is used. More >

    Silpisikha Goswamia,b, Dipak Sarmab

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.16, 2021, DOI:10.5098/hmt.16.12

Abstract This study includes the observation of electrically conducting non-Newtonian fluid flow through a vertical porous plate considering the effect of the induced magnetic field. Our approach is numerical to investigate how the variation of magnetic Prandtl number and Eckert number effect the flow profiles. Influence of Casson parameter and Hartmann number in the profiles is also observed and depicted in graphs. The rate of heat transfer, the rate of mass transfer and the skin friction are calculated and presented in tables. A significant effect of magnetic Prandtl number and Eckert number is observed. We compared More >

    K.V. Chandra Sekhar*

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.16, pp. 1-6, 2021, DOI:10.5098/hmt.16.10

Abstract The behavior of unsteady MHD flow of Jeffrey fluid over an inclined porous plate was analyzed in the present article. The governing partial differential equations of the flow phenomena were solved by using powerful mathematical tool Laplace transforms. The variations of velocity, temperature of the flow with respect to dissimilar physical parameters are analyzed through graphs. The parameters of engineering interest are skin friction and Nusselt number. For better understanding of the problem, variations of skin friction and Nusselt number with respect to critical parameters are tabulated. More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.17, pp. 1-8, 2021, DOI:10.5098/hmt.17.23

Abstract The main intention of this study is to explore Maxwell fluid under the influence of thermophoresis and buoyancy forces induced by exponentially stretching sheet under chemical reaction. Cattaneo –Christov heat flux model is used to explore heat and mass characteristics with variable magnetic field, and chemical reaction. Variables of similarity were induced to transmute partial differential equations into dimensionless equations and are resolved numerically by elegant method bvp 4c. Behavior of various critical parameters on velocity, temperature and concentrations is graphically presented and discussed. Non Newtonian nature of the Maxwell fluid is clearly explored by More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.17, pp. 1-8, 2021, DOI:10.5098/hmt.17.11

Abstract The problem of natural convection in rectangular cavities with different aspect ratios has been numerically analyzed in this study. Cavities considered have their right vertical walls heated and cooled at the opposite with constant temperatures, while horizontal walls are kept adiabatic. The objective of this study is to ascertain the significant effects of Rayleigh numbers (Ra), Nusselt numbers (Nu) and aspect ratios (AR) on flow and heat transfer in rectangular cavities. The equations of Navier-Stokes and energy are solved by applying Galerkin weighted residual Finite Element Method. Parametric calculations are performed for Rayleigh numbers (Ra)… More >

Matthew Wilkinson, Javier Villarreal, Andrew Meade*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.129, No.3, pp. 1373-1393, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.017883 - 25 November 2021

Abstract A meshless and matrix-free fluid dynamics solver (SOMA) is introduced that avoids the need for user generated and/or analyzed grids, volumes, and meshes. Incremental building of the approximation avoids creation and inversion of possibly dense block diagonal matrices and significantly reduces user interaction. Validation results are presented from the application of SOMA to subsonic, compressible, and turbulent flow over an adiabatic flat plate. More >
