    Yujing Ma1, Zhongwang Wang2, Xiaohui Yuan1, Leilei Chen2,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 1-2, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09662

Abstract The paper presents a novel fast calculation method for broadband Electromagnetic Scattering analysis. In this work, the isogeometric boundary element method is used to solve Helmholtz equations for the electromagnetic scattering problems. The non-uniform rational B-splines are employed to construct structural geometries and discretize electric and magnetic field integral equations [1,2]. To avoid timeconsuming multi-frequency calculations, the series expansion method is used to decouple the frequencydependent terms from the integrand in the boundary element method [3,4]. The second-order Arnoldi (SOAR) method is applied to construct a reduced-order model that retains the essential structures and key properties of the original model… More >

    Dan Li1, Jie Wang1, Haibo Chen1,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.26, No.4, pp. 1-2, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09139

Abstract In practical vibro-acoustic problems, the external excitation normally contains a certain frequency band structure [1]. Therefore, it is needed to perform optimization under frequency band analysis. For sound radiation problems caused by structural vibration, a topology optimization method for structural materials is proposed based on the acoustic-vibration coupling analysis [2-6] and the frequency-band matrix interpolation method [7,8]. By combining the advantages of FEM and BEM in structural and acoustic field analysis, the accurate solution of the acoustic-vibration coupling problem is achieved. The structural material interpolation model is established using the solid isotropic material with penalization (SIMP) method, and the topological… More >

    Haoyi Cheng1, Jingwen Guo1, Wenjing Ye1.*, Xin Zhang1

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.26, No.2, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09237

Abstract With their thin thicknesses and unprecedent wave manipulation capabilities, acoustic metasurfaces have a great potential to be applied in a wide range of applications. Most existing metasurfaces are passive devices. Although passive devices are easy to implement and consume no energy, one major shortcoming of passive devices is their fixed and limited functionality, which greatly limits their application scope. To increase the functionalities of a metasurface and yet still maintain its passivity, we propose to use the wave frequency as a tuning freedom to realize multiple functionalities in one single passive device. Specifically, the passive metasurface will be designed to… More >

A Directional Fast Algorithm for Oscillatory Kernels with Curvelet-Like Functions

    Yanchuang Cao1, Jun Liu1, Dawei Chen1,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.25, No.4, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09272

Abstract Interactions of multiple points with oscillatory kernels are widely encountered in wave analysis. For large scale problems, its direct evaluation is prohibitive since the computational cost increases quadratically with the number of points.
Various fast algorithms have been constructed by exploiting specific properties of the kernel function. Early fast algorithms, such as the fast multipole method (FMM) and its variants, H2-matrix, adaptive cross approximation (ACA), wavelet-based method, etc., are generally developed for kernels that are asymptotically smooth when source points and target points are well separated. For oscillatory kernels, however, the asymptotic smoothness criteria is only satisfied when the oscillation… More >

    Feiyan Zhou1,*, Hui Yin1, Chen Luo2, Haixin Tong2, Kun Yu2, Zewen Li2, Xiangjun Zeng2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.9, pp. 1979-1990, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.029480

Abstract The load types in low-voltage distribution systems are diverse. Some loads have current signals that are similar to series fault arcs, making it difficult to effectively detect fault arcs during their occurrence and sustained combustion, which can easily lead to serious electrical fire accidents. To address this issue, this paper establishes a fault arc prototype experimental platform, selects multiple commonly used loads for fault arc experiments, and collects data in both normal and fault states. By analyzing waveform characteristics and selecting fault discrimination feature indicators, corresponding feature values are extracted for qualitative analysis to explore changes in time-frequency characteristics of… More > Graphic Abstract

Harmonic Balance Methods: A Review and Recent Developments

    Zipu Yan1,2, Honghua Dai1,2,*, Qisi Wang1,2, Satya N. Atluri3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.137, No.2, pp. 1419-1459, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.028198

Abstract The harmonic balance (HB) method is one of the most commonly used methods for solving periodic solutions of both weakly and strongly nonlinear dynamical systems. However, it is confined to low-order approximations due to complex symbolic operations. Many variants have been developed to improve the HB method, among which the time domain HB-like methods are regarded as crucial improvements because of their fast computation and simple derivation. So far, there are two problems remaining to be addressed. i) A dozen of different versions of HB-like methods, in frequency domain or time domain or in hybrid, have been developed; unfortunately, misclassification… More >

    Amthal Hakim1, Wael Slika1,*, Rawan Machmouchi1, Adel Elkordi2

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.17, No.3, pp. 175-194, 2023, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2022.023027

Abstract Corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete elements causes minor to major damage in different aspects. It may lead to spalling of concrete cover, reduction of section’s capacity and can alter the dynamic properties. For the dynamic properties, natural frequency is to be a reliable indicator of structural integrity that can be utilized in non-destructive corrosion assessment. Although the correlation between natural frequency and corrosion damage has been reflected in different experimental programs, few attempts have been made to investigate this relationship in forward modeling and/or structural health monitoring techniques. This can be attributed to the limited available data, the complex… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.2, pp. 1531-1551, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.039256

Abstract Energy supply is one of the most critical challenges of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and industrial wireless sensor networks (IWSNs). While research on coverage optimization problem (COP) centers on the network’s monitoring coverage, this research focuses on the power banks’ energy supply coverage. The study of 2-D and 3-D spaces is typical in IWSN, with the realistic environment being more complex with obstacles (i.e., machines). A 3-D surface is the field of interest (FOI) in this work with the established hybrid power bank deployment model for the energy supply COP optimization of IWSN. The hybrid power bank deployment model is… More >

    Gang Xiang1,2, Xiaoyu Cheng3, Wei He3,4,*, Peng Han3

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.47, No.1, pp. 273-298, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.037892

Abstract A liquid launch vehicle is an important carrier in aviation, and its regular operation is essential to maintain space security. In the safety assessment of fluid launch vehicle body structure, it is necessary to ensure that the assessment model can learn self-response rules from various uncertain data and not differently to provide a traceable and interpretable assessment process. Therefore, a belief rule base with interpretability (BRB-i) assessment method of liquid launch vehicle structure safety status combines data and knowledge. Moreover, an innovative whale optimization algorithm with interpretable constraints is proposed. The experiments are carried out based on the liquid launch… More >
