Tian Ma, Chenhui Fu*, Jiayi Yang, Jiehui Zhang, Chuyang Shang

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.1, pp. 1103-1122, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.042416 - 31 October 2023

Abstract Low-light image enhancement methods have limitations in addressing issues such as color distortion, lack of vibrancy, and uneven light distribution and often require paired training data. To address these issues, we propose a two-stage unsupervised low-light image enhancement algorithm called Retinex and Exposure Fusion Network (RF-Net), which can overcome the problems of over-enhancement of the high dynamic range and under-enhancement of the low dynamic range in existing enhancement algorithms. This algorithm can better manage the challenges brought about by complex environments in real-world scenarios by training with unpaired low-light images and regular-light images. In the… More >

Chongyang Zhao, Wei Chai, Beibei Rui, Lin Chen*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.11, pp. 2683-2705, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.029620 - 31 October 2023

Abstract At present, the direct drive permanent magnet synchronous generator (DD-PMSG) grid connected system based on virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control will experience power oscillation at sub synchronous frequencies. The mechanism and characteristics of this new type of sub-synchronous interaction (SSI) are not yet clear, and the system cannot recover to steady state solely based on the characteristics of VSG itself. Especially when connected to a weak current network, oscillations are more pronounced, affecting the stability of the system. In severe cases, the system may trigger shutdown protection and be disconnected from the network. Existing research More >

Giant Flexoelectric Effect of Polymeric Porous Composite and Its Applications

    Dongze Yan1, Jianxiang Wang2, Lihua Shao1,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.27, No.1, pp. 1-2, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09357

Abstract Non-uniform strains produce a localized break in the microscopic inverse symmetry of materials, which leads to the electromechanical coupling phenomenon known as flexoelectricity in all dielectric materials. However, the size-dependent flexoelectric effect typically only manifests at small scales. Creating a considerable flexoelectric output at the macroscopic scale remains a bottleneck. Micro- and nano-porous materials own a significant number of randomly distributed microscopic pores and ligamentous structures, which can deform non-uniformly under arbitrary forms of macroscopic loading. Moreover, since the small size effect of flexoelectricity, the entire flexoelectricity of the micro- and nano-porous materials will be… More >

Abstract This study uses a T-junction to examine the effects of different parameters (velocity ratio, viscosity, contact angle, and channel size ratio) on the generation of microdroplets, related rate, and size. More specifically, numerical simulations are exploited to investigate situations with a velocity varying from 0.004 to 1.6 m/s for the continuous phase and from 0.004 to 0.8 m/s for the dispersed phase, viscosity ratios (0.668, 1, 6.689, 10, 66.899), contact angle 80° < θ < 270° and four different canal size ratios (1, 1.5, 2 and 4). The results show that canal size influences droplet More > Graphic Abstract

Waste Heat Recovery from a Drier Receiver of an A/C Unit Using Thermoelectric Generators

    Ali Jaber Abdulhamed1,*, Aws Al-Akam1, Ahmed A. Abduljabbar2, Mohammed H. Alkhafaji3

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.8, pp. 1729-1746, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.029069 - 05 June 2023

Abstract Thermoelectric generators (TEGs) are considered promising devices for waste heat recovery from various systems. The Seebeck effect can be utilized to generate power using the residual heat emitted by the filter dryer receiver (FDR) of an air conditioning (A/C) system, which would otherwise go to waste. The study aims to build a set of thermoelectric generators (TEG) to collect the waste heat of the FDR and generate low-power electricity. A novel electrical circuit with two transformers is designed and fabricated to produce a more stable voltage for operation and charging. The thermoelectric generator (TEGs) was… More >

A Fault Feature Extraction Model in Synchronous Generator under Stator Inter-Turn Short Circuit Based on ACMD and DEO3S

Yuling He, Shuai Li, Chao Zhang*, Xiaolong Wang

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.17, No.2, pp. 115-130, 2023, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2023.022317 - 09 May 2023

Abstract This paper proposed a new diagnosis model for the stator inter-turn short circuit fault in synchronous generators. Different from the past methods focused on the current or voltage signals to diagnose the electrical fault, the stator vibration signal analysis based on ACMD (adaptive chirp mode decomposition) and DEO3S (demodulation energy operator of symmetrical differencing) was adopted to extract the fault feature. Firstly, FT (Fourier transform) is applied to the vibration signal to obtain the instantaneous frequency, and PE (permutation entropy) is calculated to select the proper weighting coefficients. Then, the signal is decomposed by ACMD, More >
