Abstract The Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is a self-organizing network with random deployment of wireless nodes that connects each other for effective monitoring and data transmission. The clustering technique employed to group the collection of nodes for data transmission and each node is assigned with a cluster head. The major concern with the identification of the cluster head is the consideration of energy consumption and hence this paper proposes an hybrid model which forms an energy efficient cluster head in the Wireless Sensor Network. The proposed model is a hybridization of Glowworm Swarm Optimization (GSO) and More >

Abstract This pilot study focuses on employment of hybrid LMS-ICA system for in-vehicle background noise reduction. Modern vehicles are nowadays increasingly supporting voice commands, which are one of the pillars of autonomous and SMART vehicles. Robust speaker recognition for context-aware in-vehicle applications is limited to a certain extent by in-vehicle background noise. This article presents the new concept of a hybrid system, which is implemented as a virtual instrument. The highly modular concept of the virtual car used in combination with real recordings of various driving scenarios enables effective testing of the investigated methods of in-vehicle More >

    Journal of Cyber Security, Vol.3, No.2, pp. 117-124, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jcs.2021.017018 - 02 August 2021

Abstract One of the main problems of machine learning and data mining is to develop a basic model with a few features, to reduce the algorithms involved in classification’s computational complexity. In this paper, the collection of features has an essential importance in the classification process to be able minimize computational time, which decreases data size and increases the precision and effectiveness of specific machine learning activities. Due to its superiority to conventional optimization methods, several metaheuristics have been used to resolve FS issues. This is why hybrid metaheuristics help increase the search and convergence rate More >

    Mohit Kumar Sharma, Arun Kumar*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.1, pp. 1391-1406, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017666 - 04 June 2021

Abstract Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is gaining considerable attention due to its features, such as low out-of-band radiation, signal detection capability, high spectrum gain, fast data rate, and massive D2D connectivity. It may be considered for 5G networks. However, the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) is viewed as a significant disadvantage of a NOMA waveform, and it weakens the quality of signals and the throughput of the scheme. In this article, we introduce a modified NOMA system by employing a block of wavelet transform, an alternative to FFT (Fast Fourier transform). The modified system combines the More >

    Samer H. Atawneh1, Waqar A. Khan2, Nawaf N. Hamadneh3,*, Adeeb M. Alhomoud3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.1, pp. 73-87, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.012351 - 12 January 2021

Abstract The objectives of this study involve the optimization of longitudinal porous fins of square cross-section using metaheuristic algorithms. A generalized nonlinear ordinary differential equation is derived using Darcy and Fourier’s laws in the energy balance around a control volume and is solved numerically using RFK 45 method. The temperature of the base surface is higher than the fin surface, and the fin tip is kept adiabatic or cooled by convection heat transfer. The other pertinent parameters include Rayleigh number (100 ≤ Ra ≤ 104), Darcy number, (10−4 ≤ Da ≤ 10−2), relative thermal conductivity ratio of solid phase to fluid (1000 ≤ kr ≤ 8000), Nusselt number (10 ≤ Nu ≤ 100), More >

Abstract Data compression is one of the core fields of study for applications of image and video processing. The raw data to be transmitted consumes large bandwidth and requires huge storage space as a result, it is desirable to represent the information in the data with considerably fewer bits by the mean of data compression techniques, the data must be reconstituted very similarly to the initial form. In this paper, a hybrid compression based on Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) is used to enhance the quality of the reconstructed image. These techniques are… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.59, No.3, pp. 873-883, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05230

Abstract Multi-tag collision imposes a vital detrimental effect on reading performance of an RFID system. In order to ameliorate such collision problem and to improve the reading performance, this paper proposes an efficient tag identification algorithm termed as the Enhanced Adaptive Tree Slotted Aloha (EATSA). The key novelty of EATSA is to identify the tags using grouping strategy. Specifically, the whole tag set is divided into groups by a frame of size F. In cases multiple tags fall into a group, the tags of the group are recognized by the improved binary splitting (IBS) method whereas the More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.24, No.1, pp. 9-16, 2018, DOI:10.1080/10798587.2016.1261956

Abstract This paper considers the problem of scheduling n independent jobs in g-stage hybrid flow shop environment. To address the realistic assumptions of the proposed problem, two additional traits were added to the scheduling problem. These include setup times, and the consideration of maximum completion time together with total tardiness as objective function. The problem is to determine a schedule that minimizes a convex combination of objectives. A procedure based on hybrid the simulated annealing; genetic algorithm and local search so-called HSA-GA-LS are proposed to handle this problem approximately. The performance of the proposed algorithm is More >
