    Ghada Atteia1,*, Mohammed Dabboor2, Konstantinos Karantzalos3, Maali Alabdulhafith1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.84, No.1, pp. 1747-1767, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.063363 - 09 June 2025

Abstract This study explores the integration of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery with deep learning and metaheuristic feature optimization techniques for enhanced oil spill detection. This study proposes a novel hybrid approach for oil spill detection. The introduced approach integrates deep transfer learning with the metaheuristic Binary Harris Hawk optimization (BHHO) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) for improved feature extraction and selection from input SAR imagery. Feature transfer learning of the MobileNet convolutional neural network was employed to extract deep features from the SAR images. The BHHO and PCA algorithms were implemented to identify subsets of… More >

Hoang Thi Minh Chau1,2,3, Tran Thi Ngan4,*, Nguyen Long Giang5, Tran Manh Tuan6, Tran Kim Chau7

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.83, No.3, pp. 4915-4937, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.062784 - 19 May 2025

Abstract Global climate change, along with the rapid increase of the population, has put significant pressure on water security. A water reservoir is an effective solution for adjusting and ensuring water supply. In particular, the reservoir water level is an essential physical indicator for the reservoirs. Forecasting the reservoir water level effectively assists the managers in making decisions and plans related to reservoir management policies. In recent years, deep learning models have been widely applied to solve forecasting problems. In this study, we propose a novel hybrid deep learning model namely the YOLOv9_ConvLSTM that integrates YOLOv9,… More >

Suhaila Abuowaida1,*, Hamza Abu Owida2, Deema Mohammed Alsekait3,*, Nawaf Alshdaifat4, Diaa Salama AbdElminaam5,6, Mohammad Alshinwan4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.83, No.2, pp. 3303-3333, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.063470 - 16 April 2025

Abstract Segmenting a breast ultrasound image is still challenging due to the presence of speckle noise, dependency on the operator, and the variation of image quality. This paper presents the UltraSegNet architecture that addresses these challenges through three key technical innovations: This work adds three things: (1) a changed ResNet-50 backbone with sequential 3 convolutions to keep fine anatomical details that are needed for finding lesion boundaries; (2) a computationally efficient regional attention mechanism that works on high-resolution features without using a transformer’s extra memory; and (3) an adaptive feature fusion strategy that changes local and… More >

    Chayut Bunterngchit1, Laith H. Baniata2, Mohammad H. Baniata3, Ashraf ALDabbas4, Mohannad A. Khair5, Thanaphon Chearanai6, Sangwoo Kang2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.83, No.1, pp. 517-536, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.060368 - 26 March 2025

Abstract Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide, significantly impairing motor and cognitive functions. Effective rehabilitation is often hindered by the heterogeneity of stroke lesions, variability in recovery patterns, and the complexity of electroencephalography (EEG) signals, which are often contaminated by artifacts. Accurate classification of motor imagery (MI) tasks, involving the mental simulation of movements, is crucial for assessing rehabilitation strategies but is challenged by overlapping neural signatures and patient-specific variability. To address these challenges, this study introduces a graph-attentive convolutional long short-term memory (LSTM) network (GACL-Net), a novel hybrid deep learning model… More >

An Improved Hybrid Deep Learning Approach for Security Requirements Classification

    Shoaib Hassan1,*, Qianmu Li1,*, Muhammad Zubair2, Rakan A. Alsowail3, Muhammad Umair2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.82, No.3, pp. 4041-4067, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.059832 - 06 March 2025

Abstract As the trend to use the latest machine learning models to automate requirements engineering processes continues, security requirements classification is tuning into the most researched field in the software engineering community. Previous literature studies have proposed numerous models for the classification of security requirements. However, adopting those models is constrained due to the lack of essential datasets permitting the repetition and generalization of studies employing more advanced machine learning algorithms. Moreover, most of the researchers focus only on the classification of requirements with security keywords. They did not consider other nonfunctional requirements (NFR) directly or… More >

Fine Tuned Hybrid Deep Learning Model for Effective Judgment Prediction

    G. Sukanya, J. Priyadarshini*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.142, No.3, pp. 2925-2958, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2025.060030 - 03 March 2025

Abstract Advancements in Natural Language Processing and Deep Learning techniques have significantly propelled the automation of Legal Judgment Prediction, achieving remarkable progress in legal research. Most of the existing research works on Legal Judgment Prediction (LJP) use traditional optimization algorithms in deep learning techniques falling into local optimization. This research article focuses on using the modified Pelican Optimization method which mimics the collective behavior of Pelicans in the exploration and exploitation phase during cooperative food searching. Typically, the selection of search agents within a boundary is done randomly, which increases the time required to achieve global… More >

A Software Defect Prediction Method Using a Multivariate Heterogeneous Hybrid Deep Learning Algorithm

    Qi Fei1,2,*, Haojun Hu3, Guisheng Yin1, Zhian Sun2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.82, No.2, pp. 3251-3279, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.058931 - 17 February 2025

Abstract Software defect prediction plays a critical role in software development and quality assurance processes. Effective defect prediction enables testers to accurately prioritize testing efforts and enhance defect detection efficiency. Additionally, this technology provides developers with a means to quickly identify errors, thereby improving software robustness and overall quality. However, current research in software defect prediction often faces challenges, such as relying on a single data source or failing to adequately account for the characteristics of multiple coexisting data sources. This approach may overlook the differences and potential value of various data sources, affecting the accuracy… More >

Abstract App reviews are crucial in influencing user decisions and providing essential feedback for developers to improve their products. Automating the analysis of these reviews is vital for efficient review management. While traditional machine learning (ML) models rely on basic word-based feature extraction, deep learning (DL) methods, enhanced with advanced word embeddings, have shown superior performance. This research introduces a novel aspect-based sentiment analysis (ABSA) framework to classify app reviews based on key non-functional requirements, focusing on usability factors: effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction. We propose a hybrid DL model, combining BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers) More >
