Improved Channel Reciprocity for Secure Communication in Next Generation Wireless Systems

    Imtisal Qadeer1,2, Muhammad Khurram Ehsan3,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.2, pp. 2619-2630, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015641 - 05 February 2021

Abstract To secure the wireless connection between devices with low computational power has been a challenging problem due to heterogeneity in operating devices, device to device communication in Internet of Things (IoTs) and 5G wireless systems. Physical layer key generation (PLKG) tackles this secrecy problem by introducing private keys among two connecting devices through wireless medium. In this paper, relative calibration is used as a method to enhance channel reciprocity which in turn increases the performance of the key generation process. Channel reciprocity based key generation is emerged as better PLKG methodology to obtain secure wireless More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.2, pp. 1781-1799, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015229 - 05 February 2021

Abstract With the advent and advancements in the wireless technologies, Wi-Fi fingerprinting-based Indoor Positioning System (IPS) has become one of the most promising solutions for localization in indoor environments. Unlike the outdoor environment, the lack of line-of-sight propagation in an indoor environment keeps the interest of the researchers to develop efficient and precise positioning systems that can later be incorporated in numerous applications involving Internet of Things (IoTs) and green computing. In this paper, we have proposed a technique that combines the capabilities of multiple algorithms to overcome the complexities experienced indoors. Initially, in the database… More >

A Study on Using a Wireless Sensor Network to Design a Plant Monitoring System

    Sung-Jung Hsiao1, Wen-Tsai Sung2,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 359-377, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.014905 - 18 January 2021

Abstract Traditional agriculture has to face different climatic factors, resulting in unstable crop yields, whereas a plant factory is indoors, thus avoiding different natural disasters and insect pests. It is also available for bulk production in all-weather all year-round, guaranteeing crop quality. This study uses a wireless sensor network (WSN) architecture for multi-monitoring of a plant environment, aiming to improve its growing environment quality. In terms of monitoring environment, the sensor modules at the end device nodes are combined with Arduino for capturing the sensor values, which are transmitted by wireless signal transmission. The data of… More >

Self-Adaptive Fault Recovery Mechanism Based on Task Migration Negotiation

    Ruijun Chai1, Sujie Shao1,*, Shaoyong Guo1, Yuqi Wang1, Xuesong Qiu1, Linna Ruan2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 471-482, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.013373 - 18 January 2021

Abstract Long Range Radio (LoRa) has become one of the widely adopted Low-Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technologies in power Internet of Things (PIoT). Its major advantages include long-distance, large links and low power consumption. However, in LoRa-based PIoT, terminals are often deployed in the wild place and are easily affected by bad weather or disaster, which could easily lead to large-scale operation faults and could seriously affect the normal operation of the network. Simultaneously, the distribution characteristics of outdoor terminals with wide coverage and large links lead to a sharp increase in the difficulty and… More >

Collision Observation-Based Optimization of Low-Power and Lossy IoT Network Using Reinforcement Learning

    Arslan Musaddiq1, Rashid Ali2, Jin-Ghoo Choi1, Byung-Seo Kim3,*, Sung-Won Kim1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.1, pp. 799-814, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014751 - 12 January 2021

Abstract The Internet of Things (IoT) has numerous applications in every domain, e.g., smart cities to provide intelligent services to sustainable cities. The next-generation of IoT networks is expected to be densely deployed in a resource-constrained and lossy environment. The densely deployed nodes producing radically heterogeneous traffic pattern causes congestion and collision in the network. At the medium access control (MAC) layer, mitigating channel collision is still one of the main challenges of future IoT networks. Similarly, the standardized network layer uses a ranking mechanism based on hop-counts and expected transmission counts (ETX), which often does… More >
