Yanli Wang*, Jia Li, Chunling Xu, Xiaomeng Zhang

    Oncology Research, Vol.28, No.7-8, pp. 823-825, 2020, DOI:10.3727/096504021X16240202940021

Abstract Increasing evidence indicates that the dysregulation of microRNAs is associated with the development and progression of various cancers. MicroRNA-139-5p (miR-139-5p) has been reported to have a tumor suppressive role in many types of cancers. The role of miR-139-5p in ovarian cancer (OC) is poorly understood. The purpose of the present study was to explore the expression of miR-139-5p and its function in OC. The results showed that miR-139-5p expression was markedly downregulated in OC tissues and cell lines. In addition, underexpression of miR-139-5p was significantly associated with FIGO stage, lymph mode metastasis, and poor overall… More >

miR-325-3p Promotes the Proliferation, Invasion, and EMT of Breast Cancer Cells by Directly Targeting S100A2

Huiling Wang*, Xin Hu, Feng Yang, Hui Xiao*

    Oncology Research, Vol.28, No.7-8, pp. 731-744, 2020, DOI:10.3727/096504020X16100888208039

Abstract This study was designed to investigate the precise mechanisms of miR-325-3p/S100A2 axis in breast cancer (BC). In this study, we found that the level of miR-325-3p was dramatically increased in BC tissues and cell lines, and the expression of S100A2 was significantly decreased. Also, the high level of miR-325-3p was closely associated with low expression of S100A2 in BC tissues. Moreover, introduction of miR-325-3p significantly promoted proliferation, invasion, and EMT of BC cells. Bioinformatics analysis predicted that the S100A2 was a potential target gene of miR-325-3p. Luciferase reporter assay demonstrated that miR-325-3p could directly target More >

    Zhong-xin Zhou*, Zu-ping Zhang, Ze-zhang Tao*, Ting-zhao Tan

    Oncology Research, Vol.28, No.1, pp. 21-31, 2020, DOI:10.3727/096504018X15213142076069

Abstract Laryngeal cancer, one of the most common head and neck malignancies, is an aggressive neoplasm. Increasing evidence has demonstrated that microRNAs (miRNAs) exert important roles in oncogenesis and progression of diverse types of human cancers. miR-632, a tumor-related miRNA, has been reported to be dysregulated and implicated in human malignancies; however, its biological role in laryngeal carcinoma remains to be elucidated. The present study aimed at exploring the role of miR-632 in laryngeal cancer and clarifying the potential molecular mechanisms involved. In the current study, miR-632 was found to be significantly upregulated both in laryngeal… More >

Adilijiang Maimaitiming*, Ailijiang Wusiman, Abulajiang Aimudula, Xuekelaiti Kuerban*, Pengcheng Su*

    Oncology Research, Vol.28, No.1, pp. 13-19, 2020, DOI:10.3727/096504019X15519249902838

Abstract The aim of the present study was to investigate the roles of microRNA-152 (miR-152) in the initiation and progression of breast cancer. The expression level of miR-152 was detected in human breast cancer tissue and a panel of human breast cancer cell lines using qRT-PCR. Results found that miR-152 expression was significantly downregulated in breast cancer tissue samples compared to adjacent noncancerous tissues as well as in breast cancer cell lines. Overexpression of miR-152 significantly suppressed breast cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Luciferase reporter assay results found that ROCK1 is a direct and functional More >

    Oncologie, Vol.22, No.3, pp. 179-188, 2020, DOI:10.32604/Oncologie.2020.012544

Abstract This study aimed to explore LncRNA TUG1 targeted miR-222-3p in the proliferation and invasion of breast cancer (BC) cells. Seventy-six BC patients admitted to our hospital and 62 health check-ups at the same time were selected as the research objects. Among them, the former was seen as the observation group (OG), and the latter was considered as the control group (CG). The clinical significance of LncRNA TUG1 and miR-222-3p in BC was detected. Human BC cell MCF7 and normal human breast epithelial cell MCF-10A were purchased. After cells were transfected with LncRNA TUG1 and miR-222-3p,… More >

Abstract Osteosarcoma (OS) is a primary high-grade malignant bone neoplasm, and the prognosis of OS remains poor due to early metastasis. Leptin plays an essential role in tumorigenesis, but the role of leptin in the development of OS is still not fully understood. In this study, we used a human osteosarcoma MG-63 cell line as an experimental model. MG-63 cells were treated with leptin, and cell proliferation, apoptosis, adhesion, invasion, and gene expression, were evaluated. The results showed that leptin promoted proliferation, decreased adhesion, suppressed apoptosis, and promoted invasion, of MG-63 cells. Moreover, the expression of More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 345-351, 2020, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2020.08944 - 22 September 2020

Abstract Ovarian cancer (OC) is a major cause of cancer-related deaths among gynaecological malignancies. Emerging studies suggest that the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) may be the potential biomarker for the diagnosis and prognosis of the cancer. The current study was carried out to investigate the role of lncRNA CCHE1 silencing in OC cell invasion and migration. Expression of lncRNA CCHE1 in normal ovarian cell Hose and OC cell lines HO 8910, A2780 and SKOV3 was detected. LncRNA were transfected with siRNA, and then the proliferation of cells was detected by using MTT assay. Cell invasion and… More >

Xin YANG*, Liqun LU, Li HUANG, Jing HE, Jie LV

    BIOCELL, Vol.44, No.1, pp. 101-110, 2020, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2020.08324 - 01 March 2020

Abstract T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) is a hematological tumor caused by the malignant transformation of immature T-cell progenitor cells. Emerging studies have stated that microRNAs (miRNAs) may play key roles in T-ALL progression. This study aimed to investigate the roles of miR-145-3p in T-ALL cell proliferation, invasion, and apoptosis with the involvement of the nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-κB) signaling pathway. T-ALL Jurkat cells were harvested, and the expression of miR-145-3p and NF-κB-p65 was measured. Gain- and loss-of-functions of miR-145-3p and NF-κB-p65 were performed to identify their roles in the biological behaviors of Jurkat cells, including proliferation,… More >

Bo Xia*, Lei Wang, Li Feng*, Baofang Tian*, Yuanjie Tan, Baoyin Du*

    Oncology Research, Vol.27, No.1, pp. 89-98, 2019, DOI:10.3727/096504018X15199511344806

Abstract Osteosarcoma is the most common primary malignant bone tumor in children and adolescents. This study aimed to explore the effects of long noncoding RNA CAT104 and microRNA-381 (miR-381) on osteosarcoma cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and apoptosis, as well as the underlying potential mechanism. We found that CAT104 was highly expressed in osteosarcoma MG63 and OS-732 cells. Knockdown of CAT104 significantly inhibited OS-732 cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, but promoted cell apoptosis. CAT104 regulated the expression of miR-381, and miR-381 participated in the effects of CAT104 on OS-732 cells. Zinc finger E-box-binding homeobox 1 (ZEB1) was More >
