A Lightweight Approach to Access to Wireless Network without Operating System Support

Yonghua Xionga,b,d, Jinhua Shea,b,c, Keyuan Jiangd

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.24, No.2, pp. 275-284, 2018, DOI:10.1080/10798587.2017.1280262

Abstract Wireless network is crucial for the Mobile Transparent Computing (MTC), in which a mobile device without any Operating System (OS) support needs to load the demanded OSes and applications through accessing the wireless network connection. In this paper, a lightweight approach based on the Boot Management System (BMS) was proposed to ensure the wireless network connection before booting OS. In BMS, the Virtual File System (VFS) technology was used to drive the wireless network card and establish a stable network connection. A prototype of the BMS was tested on ARM11 hardware platform and the results More >

Lightweight Biobased Polyurethane Nanocomposite Foams Reinforced with Pineapple Leaf Nanofibers (PLNFs)

    Xiaojian Zhou1,2, Hui Wang1, Jun Zhang2, Zhifeng Zheng1, Guanben Du1,2,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.6, No.1, pp. 68-74, 2018, DOI:10.7569/JRM.2017.634150

Abstract Pineapple leaf nanofibers (PLNFs) extracted from pineapple leaf fiber were used for reinforcing biobased polyurethane foam (BPU). The dispersion performance of PLNF in the foaming mixture system, nanocomposite foaming behavior, cell morphology, cell size, density, compressive strength and dimensional stability were investigated. The viscosity of the mixtures increased with increasing the PLNF content. The addition of a tiny amount of PLNF did not influence the exothermic temperature of the foam system, but reduced the expansion and gel time of the nanocomposite foams. This reduced time was found to increase the production efficiency. Scanning electron More >

    Pengcheng Liu1, †, Xiaojun Wang1, †, S. R. Chaudhry1, Khalid Javeed2, Yue Ma3, *, Martin Collier1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.57, No.3, pp. 353-363, 2018, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2018.04142

Abstract The combination of traditional processors and Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) is shaping the future networking platform for intensive computation in resource-constrained networks and devices. These networks present two key challenges of security and resource limitations. Lightweight ciphers are suitable to provide data security in such constrained environments. Implementing the lightweight PRESENT encryption algorithm in a reconfigurable platform (FPGAs) can offer secure communication service and flexibility. This paper presents hardware acceleration of security primitives in SDN using NETFPGA-10G. We implement an efficient design of the PRESENT algorithm for faster, smaller and lower power consumption hardware More >

    Eun A Hwang1, Haeng-Ki Lee1, Jong Won Kwark2, Jung Woo Lee2

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.12, No.1, pp. 11-12, 2009, DOI:10.3970/icces.2009.012.011

Abstract Concrete structures such as concrete safety barriers are often subjected to direct impact loads mainly due to vehicle crash impact. In this case, the impact resistance is one of the most critical characteristic of concrete used in such structures. The present study aims to characterize the impact resistance of lightweight aggregate cellular concrete (LACC), which will be used in concrete barriers. Impact tests on LACC specimens were carried out based on the repeated drop-weight impact test guideline recommend by ACI committee 544. Impact resistance and compressive strength of the LACC specimens were characterized and the More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.33, No.1, pp. 109-130, 2008, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2008.033.109

Abstract A geometrically nonlinear finite element analysis of a low areal density composite space reflector is conducted under static conditions and the results are compared with independently carried out experimental data. The finite element analysis is based on an assumed strain formulation of a geometrically nonlinear nine-node solid shell element. Numerical results are in good agreement with experimental data. This demonstrates the effectiveness of the present solid shell element approach when applied to the analysis of highly flexible space structures. The results of numerical analysis and the experimental data reported in the present paper provide a More >
