    BIOCELL, Vol.43, No.3, pp. 191-198, 2019, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2019.06989

Abstract Cervical cancer (CC), has been identified as one of the most frequent malignant tumors all over the world, with high mortality in females. A growing number of investigations have confirmed that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play a crucial role in the progression of multiple cancers. Nonetheless, the biological function and regulatory mechanism of LINC01772 in CC haven’t been explored so far. In this study, LINC01772 expression was found to be upregulated in tissues and cells of CC. Knocking down LINC01772 suppressed CC cell proliferation, migration and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) process. Through molecular mechanism assays,… More >

    Oncology Research, Vol.26, No.9, pp. 1411-1418, 2018, DOI:10.3727/096504018X15190844870055

Abstract Previous study indicates that long noncoding RNA NORAD could serve as a competing endogenous RNA to pancreatic cancer metastasis. However, its role in colorectal cancer (CRC) needs to be investigated. In the present study, we found that the expression of NORAD was significantly upregulated in CRC tissues. Furthermore, the expression of NORAD was positively related with CRC metastasis and patients’ poor prognosis. Knockdown of NORAD markedly inhibited CRC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion but induced cell apoptosis in vitro. In vivo experiments also indicated an inhibitory effect of NORAD on tumor growth. Mechanistically, we found More >

Abstract Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), a new class of functional regulators involved in human tumorigenesis, have been attracting the increasing attention of researchers. The lncRNA colorectal neoplasia differentially expressed (CRNDE) gene, transcribed from chromosome 16 on the strand opposite the adjacent IRX5 gene, was originally found to be increased in CRC and was reported to be abnormally expressed in many cancers. However, its potential role and the molecular mechanism underlying the radioresistant phenotype formation of lung adenocarcinoma (LAD) remain unclear. In our present study, we identified that CRNDE was significantly upregulated in LAD tissue and radioresistant… More >

Abstract Gliomas are the most common primary brain tumors with high mortality. The treatment for gliomas is largely limited due to its uncomprehending pathological mechanism. Here we aimed to investigate the effect of long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) coiled-coil domain-containing 26 (CCDC26) in glioma progression. In our study, the expression of CCDC26 was found upregulated in glioma tissues and cell lines compared with normal tissues and cell lines. Further exploration detected decreased cell proliferation and increased cell apoptosis in U-251 and M059J cells transfected with CCDC26-siRNA. In addition, the silencing of CCDC26 strongly reduced the wound closing… More >

Abstract Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are known to play important roles in cancers. However, little is known about lncRNAs in cholangiocarcinoma (CCA), a cholangiocyte malignancy with poor prognosis. We investigated the role of nuclear paraspeckle assembly transcript 1 (NEAT1) lncRNA in promoting CCA. qRT-PCR analysis of patient samples showed that NEAT1 expression was higher in CCA tumors than in matched adjacent nontumor tissue. NEAT1 levels were also higher in CCA cell lines than in a normal biliary epithelium cell line (HIBEpic). NEAT1 knockdown in CCA cell lines using shNEAT1 reduced cell proliferation and colony formation in… More >
