    Geometric Morphometrics Applied to Cartography

    Frédéric Roulier*

    Revue Internationale de Géomatique, Vol.32, pp. 17-37, 2023, DOI:10.32604/RIG.2023.045458

Abstract The morphological differences between two geographical maps can be highlighted by a polycentric distance cartogram resulting from a bidimensional regression. Beyond the communicational interest of the transformations thus produced, the method makes it possible to reveal the differences in structure and therefore constitutes a real research tool. However, bidimensional regression can only compare the shape of two maps. Since the 1990s, geometric morphometrics has revolutionized the morphological analysis of natural structures (and others). It has since been applied in many fields of research but not in cartography. This article describes the theoretical and methodological bases More > Graphic Abstract

    M. A. P. Manimekalai1, M. Karthikeyan1, I. Thusnavis Bella Mary1, K. Martin Sagayam1, Ahmed A Elngar2, Unai Fernandez-Gamiz3, Hatıra Günerhan4,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.1, pp. 1325-1353, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.035856

Abstract This paper proposes a cryptographic technique on images based on the Sudoku solution. Sudoku is a number puzzle, which needs applying defined protocols and filling the empty boxes with numbers. Given a small size of numbers as input, solving the sudoku puzzle yields an expanded big size of numbers, which can be used as a key for the Encryption/Decryption of images. In this way, the given small size of numbers can be stored as the prime key, which means the key is compact. A prime key clue in the sudoku puzzle always leads to only… More >

Estimating Anthropometric Soft Biometrics: An Empirical Method

Bilal Hassan1,*, Hafiz Husnain Raza Sherazi2, Mubashir Ali3, Yusra Siddiqi2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.3, pp. 2727-2743, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.039275

Abstract Following the success of soft biometrics over traditional biometrics, anthropometric soft biometrics are emerging as candidate features for recognition or retrieval using an image/video. Anthropometric soft biometrics uses a quantitative mode of annotation which is a relatively better method for annotation than qualitative annotations adopted by traditional biometrics. However, one of the most challenging tasks is to achieve a higher level of accuracy while estimating anthropometric soft biometrics using an image or video. The level of accuracy is usually affected by several contextual factors such as overlapping body components, an angle from the camera, and… More >

Multi-Attribute Couplings-Based Euclidean and Nominal Distances for Unlabeled Nominal Data

Lei Gu*, Furong Zhang, Li Ma

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.3, pp. 5911-5928, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.038127

Abstract Learning unlabeled data is a significant challenge that needs to handle complicated relationships between nominal values and attributes. Increasingly, recent research on learning value relations within and between attributes has shown significant improvement in clustering and outlier detection, etc. However, typical existing work relies on learning pairwise value relations but weakens or overlooks the direct couplings between multiple attributes. This paper thus proposes two novel and flexible multi-attribute couplings-based distance (MCD) metrics, which learn the multi-attribute couplings and their strengths in nominal data based on information theories: self-information, entropy, and mutual information, for measuring both More >

Abstract A person’s privacy has become a growing concern, given the nature of an expansive reliance on real-time video activities with video capture, stream, and storage. This paper presents an innovative system design based on a privacy-preserving model. The proposed system design is implemented by employing an enhanced capability that overcomes today’s single parameter-based access control protection mechanism for digital privacy preservation. The enhanced capability combines multiple access control parameters: facial expression, resource, environment, location, and time. The proposed system design demonstrated that a person’s facial expressions combined with a set of access control rules can More >

    Novel Metrics for Mutation Analysis

    Savas Takan1,*, Gokmen Katipoglu2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.2, pp. 2075-2089, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.036791

Abstract A measure of the “goodness” or efficiency of the test suite is used to determine the proficiency of a test suite. The appropriateness of the test suite is determined through mutation analysis. Several Finite State Machine (FSM) mutants are produced in mutation analysis by injecting errors against hypotheses. These mutants serve as test subjects for the test suite (TS). The effectiveness of the test suite is proportional to the number of eliminated mutants. The most effective test suite is the one that removes the most significant number of mutants at the optimal time. It is… More >
