Cuiyu Wang, Xinyu Li, Yiping Gao*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.137, No.2, pp. 1849-1870, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.028098

Abstract Job shop scheduling (JS) is an important technology for modern manufacturing. Flexible job shop scheduling (FJS) is critical in JS, and it has been widely employed in many industries, including aerospace and energy. FJS enables any machine from a certain set to handle an operation, and this is an NP-hard problem. Furthermore, due to the requirements in real-world cases, multi-objective FJS is increasingly widespread, thus increasing the challenge of solving the FJS problems. As a result, it is necessary to develop a novel method to address this challenge. To achieve this goal, a novel collaborative evolutionary algorithm with two-population based… More >

Modeling of Combined Economic and Emission Dispatch Using Improved Sand Cat Optimization Algorithm

    Fadwa Alrowais1, Jaber S. Alzahrani2, Radwa Marzouk1, Abdullah Mohamed3, Gouse Pasha Mohammed4,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.3, pp. 6145-6160, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.038300

Abstract Combined Economic and Emission Dispatch (CEED) task forms multi-objective optimization problems to be resolved to minimize emission and fuel costs. The disadvantage of the conventional method is its incapability to avoid falling in local optimal, particularly when handling nonlinear and complex systems. Metaheuristics have recently received considerable attention due to their enhanced capacity to prevent local optimal solutions in addressing all the optimization problems as a black box. Therefore, this paper focuses on the design of an improved sand cat optimization algorithm based CEED (ISCOA-CEED) technique. The ISCOA-CEED technique majorly concentrates on reducing fuel costs and the emission of generation… More >

MULTI-OBJECTIVE OPTIMIZATION OF DRYING ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND JET IMPINGEMENT FORCE ON A MOVING CURVED SURFACE

Ali Chitsazana , Georg Kleppa, Mohammad Esmaeil Chitsazanb, Birgit Glasmacherc

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.18, pp. 1-6, 2022, DOI:10.5098/hmt.18.17

Abstract For the optimization of the impinging round jet, the pressure force coefficient and drying energy consumption on the moving curved surface are set as the objective functions to be minimized simultaneously. SHERPA search algorithm is used to search for the optimal point from multiple objective tradeoff study (Pareto Front) method. It is found that the pressure force coefficient on the impingement surface is highly dependent on the jet to surface distance and jet angle, while the drying energy consumption is highly dependent on the jet to jet spacing. Generally, the best design study during the multi-objective optimization is found at… More >

    Caiyun Liu, Peng Liu*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.3, pp. 3221-3242, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.035114

Abstract Shared manufacturing is recognized as a new point-to-point manufacturing mode in the digital era. Shared manufacturing is referred to as a new manufacturing mode to realize the dynamic allocation of manufacturing tasks and resources. Compared with the traditional mode, shared manufacturing offers more abundant manufacturing resources and flexible configuration options. This paper proposes a model based on the description of the dynamic allocation of tasks and resources in the shared manufacturing environment, and the characteristics of shared manufacturing resource allocation. The execution of manufacturing tasks, in which candidate manufacturing resources enter or exit at various time nodes, enables the dynamic… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.4, pp. 949-963, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.025668

Abstract Because of the randomness of wind power and photovoltaic (PV) output of new energy bases, the problem of peak regulation capability and voltage stability of ultra-high voltage direct current (UHVDC) transmission lines, we proposed an optimum allocation method of installed capacity of the solar-thermal power station based on chance constrained programming in this work. Firstly, we established the uncertainty model of wind power and PV based on the chance constrained planning theory. Then we used the K-medoids clustering method to cluster the scenarios considering the actual operation scenarios throughout the year. Secondly, we established the optimal configuration model based on… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.4, pp. 1023-1043, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.025335

Abstract The optimal allocation of integrated energy system capacity based on the heuristic algorithms can reduce economic costs and achieve maximum consumption of renewable energy, which has attracted many attentions. However, the optimization results of heuristic algorithms are usually influenced by the choice of hyperparameters. To solve the above problem, the particle swarm algorithm is introduced to find the optimal hyperparameters of the heuristic algorithms. Firstly, an integrated energy system consisting of the photovoltaic, wind turbine, electrolysis cell, hydrogen storage tank, and energy storage is established. Meanwhile, the minimum economic cost, the maximum wind and PV power consumption rate, and the… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.1, pp. 1305-1316, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.033274

Abstract Because solar energy is among the renewable energies, it has traditionally been used to provide lighting in buildings. When solar energy is effectively utilized during the day, the environment is not only more comfortable for users, but it also utilizes energy more efficiently for both heating and cooling purposes. Because of this, increasing the building’s energy efficiency requires first controlling the amount of light that enters the space. Considering that the only parts of the building that come into direct contact with the sun are the windows, it is essential to make use of louvers in order to regulate the… More >

A Modified Bi-Directional Evolutionary Structural Optimization Procedure with Variable Evolutionary Volume Ratio Applied to Multi-Objective Topology Optimization Problem

    Xudong Jiang1,*, Jiaqi Ma1, Xiaoyan Teng2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.1, pp. 511-526, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.022785

Abstract Natural frequency and dynamic stiffness under transient loading are two key performances for structural design related to automotive, aviation and construction industries. This article aims to tackle the multi-objective topological optimization problem considering dynamic stiffness and natural frequency using modified version of bi-directional evolutionary structural optimization (BESO). The conventional BESO is provided with constant evolutionary volume ratio (EVR), whereas low EVR greatly retards the optimization process and high EVR improperly removes the efficient elements. To address the issue, the modified BESO with variable EVR is introduced. To compromise the natural frequency and the dynamic stiffness, a weighting scheme of sensitivity… More >
