    Abstract An 11.8m-long gliding-hydrofoil craft with a T-formed hydrofoil and shallow V-shaped bottom is chosen to carry on in this work. Resistance test in towering tank is the main method.     A Parameter Free Cost Function for Multi-Point Low Speed Airfoil Design

    Abstract A simple cost function is proposed that depends on the inviscid pressure distribution around an airfoil and that, when minimized, results in airfoils that promote laminar flow. Additional constraints specify the design point of the airfoil. The method allows for straightforward inclusion of multiple design points.     Abstract We investigate the reconstruction of a divergence-free surface current distribution from knowledge of the magnetic flux density in a prescribed region of interest in the framework of static electromagnetism. This inverse problem is motivated by the design of gradient coils for use in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and is formulated using its corresponding integral representation according to potential theory.     Embolization with Tornado coils to control bleeding from an arterioureteral fistula

    Abstract Arterioureteral fistulae are rare, but potentially life-threatening causes of bleeding. We present a case of an 82 year-old woman with refractory, transfusion-dependent bleeding from an arterial fistula to her right ureteral stump, following right radical nephrectomy for advanced renal cell carcinoma. Cystoscopy with retrograde ureteral stump embolization using Tornado (Cook Medical, Bloomington, Indiana, USA) coils plus a slurry of thrombin-soaked Gelfoam (Pfizer Inc., New York, New York, USA) was performed, which led to prompt resolution of the patient’s hematuria requiring no further hospitalizations or transfusions.     Abstract The addition of chlorine constitutes an economical disinfection method for closed, soil-less systems. Three quantities of sodium hypochlorite (0.55, 5.5 and 11 ppm) were applied to closed, soil-less greenhouse- grown lettuce (Lactuca sativa), to study the effect on its production (fresh weight and dry matter) and some commercial and nutritional quality factors (phytotoxicity, Vitamin C, nitrates). Sodium hypochlorite was weekly added within the nutrient solution, and the chemical properties (pH, EC and chlorides) of the recycled solution were measured.     Abstract Convection in a differentially heated cavity partly filled with silicone oil has been experimentally studied. The air-oil layers are subjected to a temperature difference in the vertical direction, with the lower wall being heated with respect to the top.     Essential oil and phototoxic compounds in Clibadium surinamense L. and Montanoa grandiflora D.C. (Asteraceae)

    Abstract Two Asteraceae species, Clibadium surinamense L. and Montanoa grandiflora D.C., were analyzed to determine the composition of the essential oil and to search for phototoxic compounds.
    Three parts of the plants were studied, inflorescence, stems and leaves. Intra and interspecific differences were found in the essential oil composition, which was determined by gas chromatography.
    In the chromatographic profiles, run for phototoxic compounds, spots for these products were present in the Clibadium surinamense extracts, but were absent in Montanoa grandiflora.

    Abstract An analytical solution is presented for the response of a non-homogeneous saturated poroelastic half-space under the action of a time-harmonic vertical point load on its surface.     Abstract The ex vivo production of inflammatory cytokines during fish oil supplementation (n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, n-3 PUFA) is a matter of considerable controversy.
