Abstract A three-dimensional model for the numerical simulation of casing-cement behavior is used to investigate residual strength in the perforated casing of ultra deep wells. The influence of the hole diameter, hole density and phase angle on the residual strength of the casing under non-uniform stress and fracturing conditions is revealed through the consideration of different perforation parameters. It is shown that the residual strength of the casing increases with the hole diameter and periodically changes with the hole density; the phase angle is the main factor that affects the residual strength of the perforated casing, and the perforation should be… More >

Modeling and Optimization of the Shear Strength of Cassava Starch-Based Adhesives Using Artificial Intelligence Methods

    Weixing Zhang, Chunxia He*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.12, pp. 3263-3283, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.020516

Abstract With the exponential growth of the computing power, machine learning techniques have been successfully used in various applications. This paper intended to predict and optimize the shear strength of single lap cassava starchbased adhesive joints for comparison with the application of artificial intelligence (AI) methods. The shear strength was firstly determined by the experiment with three independent experimental variables (starch content, NaOH concentration and reaction temperature). The analysis of range (ANORA) and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were applied to investigate the optimal combination and the significance of each factor for the shear strength based on the orthogonal experiment. The performance… More >

Optimization of the Structural Parameters of a Plastic Centrifugal Pump in the Framework of a Flow Field Analysis

    Wenbin Luo1,*, Youmin Wang1, Yuting Yan2, Yifang Shi1, Zhendong Zhang3

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.3, pp. 789-813, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.019691

Abstract In order to determine the optimal structural parameters of a plastic centrifugal pump in the framework of an orthogonal-experiment approach, a numerical study of the related flow field has been performed using CFX. The thickness S, outlet angle β2, inlet angle β1, wrap angle, and inlet diameter D1 of the splitter blades have been considered as the variable factors, using the shaft power and efficiency of the pump as evaluation indices. Through a parametric analysis, the relative importance of the influence of each structural parameter on each evaluation index has been obtained, leading to the following combinations: β1 19°, β2… More >

Injury Analysis of Vehicle-Pedestrian Collision Based on Orthogonal Experiments

    Yuan Min1,†, Xu Fengxiang2,3,*, Wu Junhao1, Zheng Xuefeng1

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.35, No.3, pp. 173-181, 2020, DOI:10.32604/csse.2020.35.173

Abstract This paper studies the influence of different factors on pedestrian head injury in vehicle-pedestrian collisions. PC-Crash software is used to construct simulation experiments under ten factors. The research shows that the injury to pedestrians in reverse impact is greater than that to pedestrians in forward impact. With the acceleration of vehicle speed, the HIC value of pedestrians will increase with the increase of the height of the front hood from the ground. When the vehicle speed is less than 40 km/h, the injury to pedestrians in a forward-leaning emergency posture is smaller, and the injury to a standing emergency posture… More >
