    Oncology Research, Vol.31, No.3, pp. 333-343, 2023, DOI:10.32604/or.2023.028694 - 22 May 2023

Abstract Various therapeutic strategies have been developed to overcome ovarian cancer. However, the prognoses resulting from these strategies are still unclear. In the present work, we screened 54 small molecule compounds approved by the FDA to identify novel agents that could inhibit the viability of human epithelial ovarian cancer cells. Among these, we identified disulfiram (DSF), an old alcohol-abuse drug, as a potential inducer of cell death in ovarian cancer. Mechanistically, DSF treatment significantly reduced the expression of the anti-apoptosis marker B-cell lymphoma/leukemia-2 (Bcl-2) and increase the expression of the apoptotic molecules Bcl2 associated X (Bax)… More >

In this paper, we analyze and design the detection algorithm of surgical instrument location mark, and estimate the posture of surgical instrument. In addition, we optimized the pose by remapping. Finally, the algorithm of location mark detection proposed in this paper and the posture analysis data of surgical instruments are verified and analyzed through experiments. The final result shows a high accuracy. More >

Abstract Electric vehicle charging identification and positioning is critically important to achieving automatic charging. In terms of the problem of automatic charging for electric vehicles, a dual recognition and positioning method based on deep learning is proposed. The method is divided into two parts: global recognition and localization and local recognition and localization. In the specific implementation process, the collected pictures of electric vehicle charging attitude are classified and labeled. It is trained with the improved YOLOv4 network model and the corresponding detection model is obtained. The contour of the electric vehicle is extracted by the… More > Graphic Abstract

Strong Tracking Particle Filter Based on the Chi-Square Test for Indoor Positioning

    Lingwu Qian1, Jianxiang Li2, Qi Tang1, Mengfei Liu1, Bingjie Yuan1, Guoli Ji1,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.2, pp. 1441-1455, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.024534 - 06 February 2023

Abstract In recent years, a number of wireless indoor positioning (WIP), such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technologies, are emerging. However, the indoor environment is complex and changeable. Walls, pillars, and even pedestrians may block wireless signals and produce non-line-of-sight (NLOS) deviations, resulting in decreased positioning accuracy and the inability to provide people with real-time continuous indoor positioning. This work proposed a strong tracking particle filter based on the chi-square test (SPFC) for indoor positioning. SPFC can fuse indoor wireless signals and the information of the inertial sensing unit (IMU) in the smartphone and detect More >

Abstract With the development of urbanization, the problem of neurological diseases brought about by population aging has gradually become a social problem of worldwide concern. Aging leads to gradual degeneration of the central nervous system, shrinkage of brain tissue, and decline in physical function in many elderlies, making them susceptible to neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD), stroke, Parkinson’s and major depressive disorder (MDD). Due to the influence of these neurological diseases, the elderly have troubles such as memory loss, inability to move, falling, and getting lost, which seriously affect their quality of life. Tracking… More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract Visible light communication (VLC), which is a prominent emerging solution that complements the radio frequency (RF) technology, exhibits the potential to meet the demands of fifth-generation (5G) and beyond technologies. The random movement of mobile terminals in the indoor environment is a challenge in the VLC system. The model of optical attocells has a critical role in the uniform distribution and the quality of communication links in terms of received power and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). As such, the optical attocells positions were optimized in this study with a developed try and error (TE) algorithm. The More >

Robust Fingerprint Construction Based on Multiple Path Loss Model (M-PLM) for Indoor Localization

Yun Fen Yong1,*, Chee Keong Tan1, Ian Kim Teck Tan2, Su Wei Tan1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 1801-1818, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.032710 - 22 September 2022

Abstract A robust radio map is essential in implementing a fingerprint-based indoor positioning system (IPS). However, the offline site survey to manually construct the radio map is time-consuming and labour-intensive. Various interpolation techniques have been proposed to infer the virtual fingerprints to reduce the time and effort required for offline site surveys. This paper presents a novel fingerprint interpolator using a multi-path loss model (M-PLM) to create the virtual fingerprints from the collected sample data based on different signal paths from different access points (APs). Based on the historical signal data, the poor signal paths are… More >

An Improved Hybrid Indoor Positioning Algorithm via QPSO and MLP Signal Weighting

Edgar Scavino1,*, Mohd Amiruddin Abd Rahman1, Zahid Farid2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 379-397, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.023824 - 22 September 2022

Abstract Accurate location or positioning of people and self-driven devices in large indoor environments has become an important necessity The application of increasingly automated self-operating moving transportation units, in large indoor spaces demands a precise knowledge of their positions. Technologies like WiFi and Bluetooth, despite their low-cost and availability, are sensitive to signal noise and fading effects. For these reasons, a hybrid approach, which uses two different signal sources, has proven to be more resilient and accurate for the positioning determination in indoor environments. Hence, this paper proposes an improved hybrid technique to implement a fingerprinting… More >

Abstract To provide stable and accurate position information of control points in a complex coastal environment, an adaptive iterated extended Kalman filter (AIEKF) for fixed-point positioning integrating global navigation satellite system, inertial navigation system, and ultra wide band (UWB) is proposed. In this method, the switched global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and UWB measurement are used as the measurement of the proposed filter. For the data fusion filter, the expectation-maximization (EM) based IEKF is used as the forward filter, then, the Rauch-Tung-Striebel smoother for IEKF filter’s result smoothing. Tests illustrate that the proposed AIEKF is able More >

Tracking Pedestrians Under Occlusion in Parking Space

    Zhengshu Zhou1,*, Shunya Yamada2, Yousuke Watanabe2, Hiroaki Takada1,2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 2109-2127, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.029005 - 01 August 2022

Abstract Many traffic accidents occur in parking lots. One of the serious safety risks is vehicle-pedestrian conflict. Moreover, with the increasing development of automatic driving and parking technology, parking safety has received significant attention from vehicle safety analysts. However, pedestrian protection in parking lots still faces many challenges. For example, the physical structure of a parking lot may be complex, and dead corners would occur when the vehicle density is high. These lead to pedestrians’ sudden appearance in the vehicle’s path from an unexpected position, resulting in collision accidents in the parking lot. We advocate that… More >
