    CHUAN TIAN1, MUBALAKE ABUDOUREYIMU1, XINRONG LIN1, HAO ZHOU2, XIAOYUAN CHU1, RUI WANG1,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.45, No.6, pp. 1527-1541, 2021, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.016203 - 01 September 2021

Abstract PSMD14 played a vital role in initiation and progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, PSMD14 and its-related genes for the immune prognostic implications of HCC patients have rarely been analyzed. Messenger RNA expression profiles and clinicopathological data were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) database-Liver Hepatocellular Carcinoma (LIHC). Additionally, we used multi-dimensional bioinformatics analysis to construct and validate a PSMD14-based immune prognostic signature (including RBM45, PSMD1, OLA1, CCT6A, LCAT and IVD) for HCC prognosis prediction. Patients in the high-risk group shown significantly poorer survival than patients in the More >

    Fei Han1, Jianghong Qu2, Fengyue Li1, Dapeng Zhang3, Jiangming Qu4, Guanghua Li5,*

    Oncologie, Vol.23, No.1, pp. 131-140, 2021, DOI:10.32604/Oncologie.2021.014153 - 30 March 2021

Abstract Aim: This study aims to explore the role of serum long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) colon cancer-associated transcript 2 (CCAT2) as a diagnostic marker for gastric cancer (GC). Methods: We recruited 76 patients with GC admitted to our hospital (the observation group, OG) and 83 healthy volunteers undergoing physical examinations during the same period (the control group, CG). CCAT2 expression was tested and its correlation with clinicopathological characteristics of GC was analyzed. We also explored the value of CCAT2 in assessing the treatment efficacy, predicting the fatality, and evaluating the prognosis of patients. Results: We detected higher… More >

Roderick W. J. van Grootel, Allard T. van den Hoven, Dan Bowen, Tijmen Ris, Jolien W. Roos-Hesselink, Annemien E. van den Bosch*

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.16, No.3, pp. 221-232, 2021, DOI:10.32604/CHD.2021.013793 - 02 March 2021

Abstract Aims: To assess the prognostic value of left ventricular (LV) global longitudinal strain (GLS) and global longitudinal early diastolic strain rate (GLSre) with regard to cardiovascular events, as congenital aortic stenosis (AoS) is associated with significant mortality and morbidity but predictors for clinical outcome are scarce. Strain analysis provides a robust and reproducible method for early detection of LV dysfunction, which might be of prognostic value. Methods: This prospective study, included clinically stable patients with congenital AoS between 2011–2013. LV GLS and GLSre was performed in the apical 4, 3 and 2-chamber views using Tomtec software.… More >

Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of drug-eluting beads transarterial chemoembolization (DEB-TACE) treatment in Chinese hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients and the prognostic factors for treatment response as well as survival. A total of 275 HCC patients were included in this prospective study. Treatment response was assessed by modified Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (mRECIST), and progression-free survival (PFS) as well as overall survival (OS) were determined. Liver function and adverse events (AEs) were assessed before and after DEB-TACE operation. Complete response (CR), partial response (PR), and objective response… More >

Abstract Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with NPM1 mutation is a disease driving genetic alteration with good prognosis. Although it has been suggested that NPM1 mutation induces chemosensitivity in leukemic cells, the underlying cause for the better survival of NPM1 mutated patients is still not clear. Mutant NPM1 AML has a unique microRNA and their target gene (mRNA) signature compared to wild-type NPM1. Dynamic regulation of miRNA–mRNA has been reported to influence the prognostic outcome. In the present study, in silico expression data of miRNA and mRNA in AML patients was retrieved from genome data commons, and differentially expressed miRNA… More >

Abstract Leukemia relapse 5 years after achieving first complete remission (CR1) is uncommon in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). In this study, we evaluated the outcomes of AML patients with late relapse at our institution and reviewed the literature for these patients. The study cohort consisted of nine AML patients with late relapse. The median interval between CR1 and AML relapse was 6.1 years (range: 5.1–16.2 years). At relapse, the karyotype was different from the initial AML diagnosis in 50% of patients. At the time of AML relapse, seven patients received induction chemotherapy and two More >

Abstract This study evaluated the survival effects of metronomic maintenance therapy with oral fluoropyrimidine in patients with stage III colorectal cancer (CRC) according to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) expression. We enrolled 197 patients with stage III CRC who had undergone radical resection and FOLFOX regimen adjuvant chemotherapy. The clinicopathological features and effects of metronomic maintenance therapy with oral capecitabine (daily dose of 850 mg/m2 , twice daily, on days 1–14 every 3 weeks for 6 months) on survival according to treatment group and EGFR expression were analyzed. By conducting an in vitro cell line study… More >

Abstract Components of the protein synthesis machinery are subjected to alterations in cancer cells. eEF1D gene, which lies within the frequently amplified 8q24 locus, is one of the subunits of the human eukaryotic elongation factor complex. This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic and predictive significance of eEF1D in breast cancer using in silico analysis tools. For this purpose, we analyzed genomic alterations of the eEF1D gene using TCGA datasets via cBioPortal. Histopathological analysis was performed on patient tissue images obtained from cBioPortal and the Human Protein Atlas. Survival analysis was carried out using the KM… More >

    Oncologie, Vol.22, No.1, pp. 43-51, 2020, DOI:10.32604/oncologie.2020.012445

Abstract To analyze the effects of different surgical procedures for the treatment of thyroid cancer on the expression levels of serum interleukin-17 (IL-17), IL-35, soluble interleukin-2 receptor (SIL-2R), and the prognostic factors. Seventy-eight patients with differentiated thyroid cancer were selected and grouped as control group (CG) (n = 39, underwent subtotal thyroidectomy) and observation group (OG) (n = 39, underwent total thyroidectomy). The serum IL-17, IL-35, and SIL- 2R expression levels; the incidence of complications; and the differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) relapse rate were compared between the two groups. The serum IL-17 and SIL-2R levels were… More >

Hui Zhang, Zhan Wang, Lin Liu, Fuqiang Zhang, Yuxin Song, Yaowen Qian*

    Oncologie, Vol.22, No.1, pp. 23-33, 2020, DOI:10.32604/oncologie.2020.012493

Abstract The expression changes of miR-625-3p and miR-449a in osteosarcoma patients after surgery is the critical study in this paper. Analysis of their prognosis and risk factors can be helpful in understanding the prognostic value for clinical purposes. Fifty-eight patients with osteosarcoma diagnosed in our hospital were considered as the research group (RG), and 52 health subjects at the same time were collected as the control group (CG). Fluorescence quantitative PCR (RTPCR) was employed to test the expression levels of miR-625-3p and miR-449a in the serum of subjects in both groups before surgery and patients in… More >
