    Abstract Microhole drilling (MHD) is a new frontier drilling technology in which the diameter of wellbore is less than 88.9mm and coiled tubing (CT) is used as drill string. The CT wound around reel for MHD has small bending radius and large length to result in large circulating flow resistance and affect normal MHD circulation. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between four circulating adipocytokines (apelin, vaspin, visfatin, adiponectin) and markers of insulin sensitivity, in the context of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in adolescents.     Abstract This paper discusses the “Inlet Temperature Difference” (ITD) based heat-exchanger (and its variants) design methodology frequently used by designers of electronic heat sinks. The methodology is at variance with the accepted methodology recommended in standard heat-transfer text books – the “Log-Mean Temperature Difference” (LMTD), or the equivalent “effectiveness-NTU” design method.     Multi-drug resistant E.coli urosepsis in physicians following transrectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsies – three cases including one death

    Abstract Three male physicians underwent transrectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsies for elevated prostate-specific antigen levels or irregular digital rectal exam fi ndings. All three of these patients developed urosepsis secondary to multi-drug resistant organisms despite antibiotic prophylaxis. There are increasing reports of infectious complications following prostate biopsy caused by multi-drug resistant organisms. These cases highlight the potentially lethal risks to healthcare workers who are more likely to harbor multi-drug resistant organisms than the general population. Further research into preoperative assessment and appropriate antibiotic prophylaxis in all potentially high risk patients is warranted. More >

    Abstract Protein assays were conducted on Tetranychus urticae Koch, as potential resistance detection tools to plaguicides. This is a phytophagous mite that feeds on a large variety of plants. Experiments were carried out using a pesticide susceptible and three field crop strains of T. urticae. Protein was measured by colorimetric assays, using Kit-II from Bio-Rad, with bovine serum albumin (BSA) as standard. Homogenates were prepared using 10, 30, 50, 100, 300, 500 and 800 mites, with 30 replicates each.
