    Qianxin Wang1,2,3, Chao Hu1,2,*, Ya Mao1,2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.117, No.3, pp. 509-525, 2018, DOI:10.31614/cmes.2018.04098

Abstract Designing the optimal distribution of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) ground stations is crucial for determining the satellite orbit, satellite clock and Earth Rotation Parameters (ERP) at a desired precision using a limited number of stations. In this work, a new criterion for the optimal GNSS station distribution for orbit and ERP determination is proposed, named the minimum Orbit and ERP Dilution of Precision Factor (OEDOP) criterion. To quickly identify the specific station locations for the optimal station distribution on a map, a method for the rapid determination of the selected station locations is developed,… More >

    A. Parassuram1,*, P. Somasundaram1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.117, No.2, pp. 169-187, 2018, DOI:10.31614/cmes.2018.01720

Abstract A continuous-time Model Predictive Controller was proposed using Kautz function in order to improve the performance of Load Frequency Control (LFC). A dynamic model of an interconnected power system was used for Model Predictive Controller (MPC) design. MPC predicts the future trajectory of the dynamic model by calculating the optimal closed loop feedback gain matrix. In this paper, the optimal closed loop feedback gain matrix was calculated using Kautz function. Being an Orthonormal Basis Function (OBF), Kautz function has an advantage of solving complex pole-based nonlinear system. Genetic Algorithm (GA) was applied to optimally tune More >

    Jing Zhang1,2,3, Xiuqing Qian1,2, Haixia Zhang1,2, Zhicheng Liu1,2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.116, No.2, pp. 301-314, 2018, DOI:10.31614/cmes.2018.04239

Abstract Elevated intraocular pressure appears to have a broader impact on increased resistance to aqueous humor outflow through the conventional aqueous outflow system (AOS). However, there is still no consensus about exact location of the increased outflow resistance of aqueous humor, and the mechanism is not perfect. In addition, it is difficult to accurately obtain hydrodynamic parameters of aqueous humor within the trabecular meshwork outflow pathways based on the current technology. In this paper, a two-way fluid-structure interaction simulation was performed to study the pressure difference and velocity in the superficial trabecular meshwork, juxtacanalicular meshwork (JCM) More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.116, No.1, pp. 69-88, 2018, DOI:10.31614/cmes.2018.02415

Abstract With the improvement of automobile ownership in recent years, the incidence of traffic accidents constantly increases and requirements on the security of automobiles become increasingly higher. As science and technology develops constantly, the development of automobile automatic obstacle avoidance and cruise system accelerates gradually, and the requirement on distance control becomes stricter. Automobile automatic obstacle avoidance and cruise system can determine the conditions of automobiles and roads using sensing technology, automatically adopt measures to control automobile after discovering road safety hazards, thus to reduce the incidence of traffic accidents. To prevent accidental collision of automobile More >

An Ensemble Based Hand Vein Pattern Authentication System

    M. Rajalakshmi*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.114, No.2, pp. 209-220, 2018, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2018.114.209

Abstract Amongst several biometric traits, Vein pattern biometric has drawn much attention among researchers and diverse users. It gains its importance due to its difficulty in reproduction and inherent security advantages. Many research papers have dealt with the topic of new generation biometric solutions such as iris and vein biometrics. However, most implementations have been based on small datasets due to the difficulties in obtaining samples. In this paper, a deeper study has been conducted on previously suggested methods based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) using a larger dataset. Also, modifications are suggested for implementation using More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.14, No.4, pp. 281-291, 2018, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2018.03721

Abstract The brake-by-wire system requirement is promoted owing to the development of green energy vehicle, and the brake pressure control method is needed. A control method for the master cylinder hydraulic pressure based on the sliding mode control approach is proposed to provide the Electro-Hydraulic Brake system (EHB) of electric vehicles with superior system performances. An assessment is carried out about the complex nonlinear characteristics and sensitivity to the external environment of these systems, which include illustrating the working principle of the EHB system, establishing the dynamic models of the key components of the EHB system.… More >

Primary and Secondary Flows on Unsteady MHD Free Convective Micropolar Fluid Flow Past an Inclined Plate in a Rotating System: a Finite Element Analysis

    M. D. Shamshuddin1, *, P. V. Satya Narayana2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.14, No.1, pp. 57-86, 2018, DOI:10.3970/fdmp.2018.014.057

Abstract In the present paper, a numerical analysis is performed to study the primary and secondary flows of a micropolar fluid flow past an inclined plate with viscous dissipation and thermal radiation in a rotating frame. A uniform magnetic field of strength Bo is applied normal to the plane of the plate. The whole system rotates with uniform angular velocity about an axis normal to the plate. The governing partial differential equations are transformed into coupled nonlinear partial differential equations by using the appropriate dimensionless quantities. The resulting equations are then solved by the Galerkin finite More >

    Xiaorui Zhang1,3,*, Jiali Duan1, Lifeng Zhu2, Ladislav Kavan3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.57, No.3, pp. 505-519, 2018, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2018.01842

Abstract Puncture is a common operation in surgery, which involves all kinds of tissue materials with different geometry and mechanical properties. As a new cross-disciplinary research area, Virtual Surgery (VS) makes simulation of soft tissue in puncture operation possible in virtual environment. In this paper, we introduce a VS-based puncture system composed by three-layer soft tissue, simulated with spherical harmonic function (SHF), which is covered with a force mesh, constructed by mass spring model (MSM). The two models are combined together with a parameter of SHF named surface radius, which provides MSM with real-time deformation data… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.57, No.3, pp. 365-388, 2018, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2018.03757

Abstract A bio-inspired global finite time control using global fast-terminal sliding mode controller and radial basis function network is presented in this article, to address the attitude tracking control problem of the three degree-of-freedom four-rotor hover system. The proposed controller provides convergence of system states in a pre-determined finite time and estimates the unmodeled dynamics of the four-rotor system. Dynamic model of the four-rotor system is derived with Newton’s force equations. The unknown dynamics of four-rotor systems are estimated using Radial basis function. The bio-inspired global fast terminal sliding mode controller is proposed to provide chattering… More >
