Determination of Cup to Disc Ratio Using Unsupervised Machine Learning Techniques for Glaucoma Detection

    R. Praveena*, T. R. GaneshBabu

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.18, No.2, pp. 69-86, 2021, DOI:10.32604/mcb.2021.014622 - 09 April 2021

Abstract The cup nerve head, optic cup, optic disc ratio and neural rim configuration are observed as important for detecting glaucoma at an early stage in clinical practice. The main clinical indicator of glaucoma optic cup to disc ratio is currently determined manually by limiting the mass screening was potential. This paper proposes the following methods for an automatic cup to disc ratio determination. In the first part of the work, fundus image of the optic disc region is considered. Clustering means K is used automatically to extract the optic disc whereas K-value is automatically selected… More >

Abstract Novel Coronavirus-19 (COVID-19) is a newer type of coronavirus that has not been formally detected in humans. It is established that this disease often affects people of different age groups, particularly those with body disorders, blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, or weakened immune systems. The epidemic of this infection has recently had a huge impact on people around the globe with rising mortality rates. Rising levels of mortality are attributed to their transmitting behavior through physical contact between humans. It is extremely necessary to monitor the transmission of the infection and also to anticipate the… More >

Abstract The innovation in technologies related to health facilities today is increasingly helping to manage patients with different diseases. The most fatal of these is the issue of heart disease that cannot be detected from a naked eye, and attacks as soon as the human exceeds the allowed range of vital signs like pulse rate, body temperature, and blood pressure. The real challenge is to diagnose patients with more diagnostic accuracy and in a timely manner, followed by prescribing appropriate treatments and keeping prescription errors to a minimum. In developing countries, the domain of healthcare is… More >

Abstract Emotion detection from the text is a challenging problem in the text analytics. The opinion mining experts are focusing on the development of emotion detection applications as they have received considerable attention of online community including users and business organization for collecting and interpreting public emotions. However, most of the existing works on emotion detection used less efficient machine learning classifiers with limited datasets, resulting in performance degradation. To overcome this issue, this work aims at the evaluation of the performance of different machine learning classifiers on a benchmark emotion dataset. The experimental results show More >

A Comparative Study of Machine Learning Methods for Genre Identification of Classical Arabic Text

    Maha Al-Yahya1, *

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.60, No.2, pp. 421-433, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.06209

Abstract The purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance of five supervised machine learning methods for the task of automated genre identification of classical Arabic texts using text most frequent words as features. We design an experiment for comparing five machine-learning methods for the genre identification task for classical Arabic text. We set the data and the stylometric features and vary the classification method to evaluate the performance of each method. Of the five machine learning methods tested, we can conclude that Support Vector Machine (SVM) are generally the most effective. The contribution of More >
