An Integrated Multilayered Framework for IoT Security Intrusion Decisions

    Hassen Sallay*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 429-444, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.030791

Abstract Security breaches can seriously harm the Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial IoT (IIoT) environments. The damage can exceed financial and material losses to threaten human lives. Overcoming these security risks is challenging given IoT ubiquity, complexity, and restricted resources. Security intrusion management is a cornerstone in fortifying the defensive security process. This paper presents an integrated multilayered framework facilitating the orchestration of the security intrusion management process and developing security decision support systems. The proposed framework incorporates four layers with four dedicated processing phases. This paper focuses mainly on the analytical layer. We present the architecture and models for… More >

ABCC8 is correlated with immune cell infiltration and overall survival in lower grade glioma

    LIPING GONG1, MING JIA2,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.47, No.1, pp. 109-123, 2023, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2023.024620

Abstract ATP binding cassette subfamily C member 8 (ABCC8) encodes a protein regulating the ATP-sensitive potassium channel. Whether the level of ABCC8 mRNA in lower grade glioma (LGG) correlates with immune cell infiltration and patient outcomes has not been evaluated until now. Comparisons of ABCC8 expression between different tumors and normal tissues were evaluated by exploring publicly available datasets. The association between ABCC8 and tumor immune cell infiltration, diverse gene mutation characteristics, tumor mutation burden (TMB), and survival in LGG was also investigated in several independent datasets. Pathway enrichment analysis was conducted to search for ABCC8-associated signaling pathways. Through an online… More >

    Alhanouf Alburaikan1, Hamiden Abd El-Wahed Khalifa1,2, Pavan Kumar3,*, Seyedali Mirjalili4,6, Ibrahim Mekawy5

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.134, No.3, pp. 1943-1956, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.021815

Abstract In this article, mathematical modeling for the evaluation of reliability is studied using two methods. One of the methods, is developed based on possibility theory. The performance of the reliability of the system is of prime concern. In view of this, the outcomes for the failure are required to evaluate with utmost care. In possibility theory, the reliability information data determined from decision-making experts are subjective. The same method is also related to the survival possibilities as against the survival probabilities. The other method is the one that is developed using the concept of approximation of closed interval including the… More >

Abstract Background: To compare the time-varying recurrence patterns of different molecular subtypes of breast cancer in the contemporary era with those in the past era. Patients and Methods: This retrospective study included 14627 consecutive invasive breast cancer patients who underwent surgery from 2008 to 2016 at Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center. We defined the period from 2013 to 2016 as the contemporary era and that from 2008 to 2012 as the past era. Five subtypes were defined according to the immunohistochemistry results. Emphasis was made on the changing patterns of recurrence for patients with different molecular subtypes changed between the two… More >

Optimal Deep Belief Network Based Lung Cancer Detection and Survival Rate Prediction

    Sindhuja Manickavasagam1,*, Poonkuzhali Sugumaran2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.1, pp. 939-953, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.030491

Abstract The combination of machine learning (ML) approaches in healthcare is a massive advantage designed at curing illness of millions of persons. Several efforts are used by researchers for detecting and providing primary phase insights as to cancer analysis. Lung cancer remained the essential source of disease connected mortality for both men as well as women and their frequency was increasing around the world. Lung disease is the unrestrained progress of irregular cells which begin off in one or both Lungs. The previous detection of cancer is not simpler procedure however if it can be detected, it can be curable, also… More >

In vivo protective effect of late embryogenesis abundant protein (ApSK3 dehydrin) on Agapanthus praecox to promote post-cryopreservation survival

    TINGTING HUANG1,#, SHAN DENG2,#, JIANGYUAN SHENG1, DI ZHANG1,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.11, pp. 2507-2515, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.021314

Abstract Dehydrins (DHNs), as members of the late embryogenesis abundant protein family, play critical roles in the protection of seeds from dehydration and plant adaptation to multiple abiotic stresses. Vitrification is a basic method in plant cryopreservation and is characterized by forming a glassy state to prevent lethal ice crystals produced during cryogenic storage. In this study, ApSK3 type DHN was genetically transformed into embryogenic calluses (EC) of Agapanthus praecox by overexpression (OE) and RNA interference (RNAi) techniques to evaluate the in vivo protective effect of DHNs during cryopreservation. The cell viability showed a completely opposite trend in OE and RNAi… More >

Long Noncoding RNA FOXC2-AS1 Predicts Poor Survival in Breast Cancer Patients and Promotes Cell Proliferation

Haisong Yang*, Tengxiang Chen, Shu Xu, Shiyong Zhang*, Mengmeng Zhang*

    Oncology Research, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 219-226, 2019, DOI:10.3727/096504018X15213126075068

Abstract Breast cancer (BC) is the most common malignant tumor in women. Recently, long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been proposed as critical regulators in biological processes, including tumorigenesis. FOXC2-AS1, a single antisense oligonucleotide RNA transcribed from the negative strand of forkhead box protein C2 (FOXC2), has been identified as an oncogene in osteosarcoma. In the present study, we investigated the prognosis value and biological role of FOXC2-AS1 in BC. Our findings revealed that FOXC2-AS1 was significantly increased in BC tissues and cell lines, and Kaplan–Meier survival analysis indicated that a high level of FOXC2-AS1 was associated with poor prognosis of BC… More >

Abstract The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of resection coupled with standard chemotherapy on the survival prognosis of patients with early stage small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC). Patients (n=110) with mediastinal lymph node-negative SCLC were enrolled in this study. The baseline clinical data of patients with surgery were retrospectively reviewed. Overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) were measured by Kaplan–Meier and log-rank test analyses. Ninety-eight patients received mediastinoscopy biopsy, and pulmonary lobectomy or sublobar resection, and 67 patients underwent adjuvant chemotherapy after pulmonary lobectomy. Adjuvant chemotherapy after surgical intervention was associated with longer OS (median OS:… More >

    Oncology Research, Vol.27, No.5, pp. 583-592, 2019, DOI:10.3727/096504018X15368325811545

Abstract This study evaluated the difference in treatment response and survival profiles between drug-eluting bead transarterial chemoembolization (DEB-TACE) and conventional transarterial chemoembolization (cTACE) treatments in Chinese hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. A total of 120 HCC patients were consecutively enrolled in this prospective cohort study, which showed that DEB-TACE achieved higher complete response (CR) (30.8%) compared with cTACE (7.4%) with no difference in overall response rate (ORR) for patients treated with DEB-TACE and cTACE (80.8% vs. 73.5%). In addition, DEB-TACE was associated with a lower rate of progressive disease (PD) compared with cTACE (1.9% vs. 11.8%). With respect to survival, patients in… More >
