Abstract Transient receptor potential (TRP) channels are strongly associated with colon cancer development and progression. This study leveraged a multivariate Cox regression model on publicly available datasets to construct a TRP channels-associated gene signature, with further validation of signature in real world samples from our hospital treated patient samples. Kaplan-Meier (K-M) survival analysis and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were employed to evaluate this gene signature’s predictive accuracy and robustness in both training and testing cohorts, respectively. Additionally, the study utilized the CIBERSORT algorithm and single-sample gene set enrichment analysis to explore the signature’s immune infiltration landscape and underlying functional implications.… More > Graphic Abstract

    Xiaoyu Gu1, Linbi Chen2, Seithati Mapesela3, Zheng Wang1,*, Aijin Zhou4

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.12, pp. 4197-4210, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.028768

Abstract The bamboo scrimber is an anisotropic material. The elastic constant values of the bamboo scrimber specimens measured by the dynamic and static methods are consistent, and the dynamic test method has the advantages of rapidity, simplicity, good repeatability, and high precision. Bamboo scrimber has strong potential as a building material, and its elastic constant is an important index to measure its mechanical properties. To quickly, simply, non-destructively, and accurately detect the elastic constant of the bamboo scrimber, they were dynamically tested by the free plate transient excitation method and cantilever plate torsional vibration method. The static four-point bending method was… More >

    Ying Zhang1, Xiaoqing Han2, Chao Zhang1, Ying Qu1, Yang Liu1, Gengwu Zhang2,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.11, pp. 2585-2609, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.026816

Abstract More and more uncertain factors in power systems and more and more complex operation modes of power systems put forward higher requirements for online transient stability assessment methods. The traditional model-driven methods have clear physical mechanisms and reliable evaluation results but the calculation process is time-consuming, while the data-driven methods have the strong fitting ability and fast calculation speed but the evaluation results lack interpretation. Therefore, it is a future development trend of transient stability assessment methods to combine these two kinds of methods. In this paper, the rate of change of the kinetic energy method is used to calculate… More >

    Liang Yi1,*, Wen Gang1, Nenggui Pan2, Wangui Wang1, Shengshuai Mo1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.11, pp. 2777-2790, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.021907

Abstract The development of thermal stress in the exhaust manifold of a gasoline engine is considered. The problem is addresses in the frame of a combined approach where fluid and structure are coupled using the GT-POWER and STAR-CCM+ software. First, the external characteristic curve of the engine is compared with a one-dimensional simulation model, then the parameters of the model are modified until the curve matches the available experimental values. GT-POWER is then used to transfer the inlet boundary data under transient conditions to STAR-CCM+ in real-time. The temperature profiles of the inner and outer walls of the exhaust manifold are… More >

    Yuming He1,*, Jie Chen1, Yubo Jiao1, Wei Wang1

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.26, No.2, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09061

Abstract In present study, a fast simulation algorithm based on linearization is used to simulate the flow parameters of the natural gas pipeline under transient operating conditions, analyze the impact of natural gas components on the transient operation, and conduct the tracking calculation of natural gas components [1- 3]. Under the condition that the simulation calculation accuracy is not affected, the first-order Taylor linearization expansion method is used to linearize the transient simulation model of natural gas pipeline, while the second-order implicit difference dispersion method is used to obtain the linearized discrete equations without initial value selection and multiple iterative solutions,… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.12, pp. 1-11, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.12.17

Abstract The present analysis is focused on free convective heat and mass transfer characteristics of magneto flow through a moving inclined plate under the influence of Aligned magnetic, viscous dissipation and thermal radiation. A uniform magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the plate. The governing non-dimensional linear partial differential equations are solved by using perturbation technique. Graphical results for the velocity, temperature and concentration distributions within the boundary layer for several physical parameters and tabulated results for the Skin-friction, the Nusselt number and the Sherwood number are displayed and discussed. The effect of increasing values of the viscous dissipation parameter or… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.12, pp. 1-10, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.12.12

Abstract A numerical investigation is performed to analyze the transient laminar free convection over an isothermal inclined plate embedded in a saturated porous medium with the viscous dissipation effects. The flow in the porous medium is modeled with the Darcy-Brinkman- Forchheimer model, taking into account the convective term. The dimensionless nonlinear partial differential equations are solved numerically using an explicit finite difference method. The effects of different parameters: (1 ≤ Re ≤ 10 ; 10−2 ≤ Da ≤ 10 ; 0 ≤ Gr ≤ 50 ; 0 ≤ F r ≤ 3 ; 0 ≤ Ec ≤ 1 ; 0 ≤… More >

OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS OF NAPHTHALENE HEAT PIPES

    B. Orra,* , R. Singha, A. Akbarzadehb , M. Mochizukic

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.13, pp. 1-7, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.13.8

Abstract Heat pipes that operate in the medium temperature range (550-700 K) are very rarely used in industry despite the potential demand of use. There is no consensus about suitable working fluids in this temperature range as research on possible working fluids is limited. One proposed working fluid is naphthalene. In this paper, a number of tests have been undertaken on both an individual naphthalene heat pipe and a naphthalene heat pipe heat exchanger. Unlike room temperature working fluids, medium temperature working fluids are solid at ambient temperature therefore they have unusual transient start up behaviour. Testing has indicated that these… More >

TRANSIENT MODELLING OF AN EV INVERTER HEAT SINK WITH PCM

    B. Orra,* , R. Singha, T. L. Phana , M. Mochizukib

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.13, pp. 1-6, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.13.1

Abstract One of the problems with cooling an IGBT inverter chip is that its heat generation is not constant. These chips tend to produce heat in pulses which results in high peak chip temperatures. Transient modelling is required to determine the suitability of a heat sink and to ensure the max peak temperature is not exceeded. This paper demonstrates a method of transient thermal analysis using a thermal resistance / capacitor network. A sample heat sink was modelled and then experimentally tested to validate the model. A novel method of modelling phase change materials (PCM) using the thermal resistance / capacitor… More >

Yogesh Jaluriaa,*, Arvindh Sundera, Jingru Z. Bennerb

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.15, pp. 1-12, 2020, DOI:10.5098/hmt.15.12

Abstract Data centers are of crucial importance today in the storage and retrieval of large amounts of data. Most organizations and firms, ranging from banks and online retailers to government departments and internet companies, use data centers to store information that can be recovered efficiently and rapidly. As the deployment of data centers has increased, along with their capacity for data storage, the demands on thermal management have also increased. It is necessary to remove the energy dissipated by the electronic circuitry since the temperature of the components must not rise beyond acceptable levels that could damage them or affect their… More >
