A MPTCP Scheduler for Web Transfer

    Wenjun Yang1, Pingping Dong1,2,*, Wensheng Tang1, Xiaoping Lou1, Hangjun Zhou3, Kai Gao4, Haodong Wang5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.57, No.2, pp. 205-222, 2018, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2018.03726

Abstract Multipath TCP (MPTCP) is the most significant extension of TCP that enables transmission via multiple paths concurrently to improve the resource usage and throughput of long flows. However, due to the concurrent multiple transfer (CMT) in short flow trans-mission, the congestion window (cwnd) of each MPTCP subflow is too small and it may lead to timeout when a single lost packet cannot be recovered through fast retransmission. As a result, MPTCP has even worse performance for short flows compared to regular TCP. In this paper, we take the first step to analyze the main reason… More >

Modelling the Roles of Cewebrity Trust and Platform Trust in Consumers’ Propensity of Live-Streaming: An Extended TAM Method

    Donghui Li1, Guozheng Zhang1,*, Zeng Xu1, Yong Lan1, Yongdong Shi2, Zhiyao Liang2, Haiwen Chen3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.55, No.1, pp. 137-150, 2018, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2018.055.137

Abstract Live streaming is a booming industry in China, involving an increasing number of Internet users. Previous studies show that trust is a cornerstone to develop e-commerce. Trust in the streaming industry is different from that of other e-commerce areas. There are two major dimensions of trust in the live streaming context: platform trust and cewebrity trust, which are both important for customers to adopt and reuse a specific live streaming service. We collected questionnaire data from 520 participates who have used live streaming services in China. We model the collected data and identified factors that More >

An online UPOINT tool for phenotyping patients with chronic prostatitis

    Christine N. Tran1, Jianbo Li2, Daniel A. Shoskes1

    Canadian Journal of Urology, Vol.21, No.2, pp. 7195-7200, 2014

Abstract Introduction: To evaluate the clinical phenotypes of patients with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) using a web based online tool and to compare these clinical features with patients evaluated in a tertiary referral clinic.
Materials and methods: Data was collected from 720 men who gave complete online responses on a website which determines the UPOINT clinical phenotype in CP/CPPS and measures symptom severity with the National Institutes of Health Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index (NIH-CPSI). This was compared to phenotype and symptom severity of 220 patients evaluated in person at a tertiary referral clinic.
    Results: The web-based cohort… More >

A Dynamical Tikhonov Regularization Method for Solving Nonlinear Ill-Posed Problems

    Chein-Shan Liu1, Chung-Lun Kuo2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.76, No.2, pp. 109-132, 2011, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2011.076.109

Abstract The Tikhonov method is a famous technique for regularizing ill-posed systems. In this theory a regularization parameter α needs to be determined. Based-on an invariant-manifold defined in the space of (x,t) and from the Tikhonov minimization functional, we can derive an optimal vector driven system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODEs). In the Optimal Vector Driven Algorithm (OVDA), the optimal regularization parameter αk is presented in the iterative solution of x, which means that a dynamical Tikhonov regularization method is involved in the solution of nonlinear ill-posed problem. The OVDA is an extension of the Landweber-Scherzer iterative More >

Creative Design of Multi-Layer Web Frame Structure Using Modified AHP and Modified TRIZ Clustering Method

    Zone-Ching Lin1, Chen-Hsing Cheng2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 25-54, 2010, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2010.068.025

Abstract This study considers loadings on the multi-layer web frame structure and uses a novel method of the modified analytical hierarchy process (AHP) combined with modified theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ) clustering to perform the creative structure design. The engineering knowledge of multi-layer web frame structure comprises such issues as vibration, yielding and buckling strength. Using the modified AHP, this study firstly applies the ratios of occurrence numbers of related keywords on different hierarchies to analyze the techniques and functions of multi-layer web frame structure, and finds out the priority order of feasible design decisions. Web-based electronic health information systems for prostate cancer patients

    Howard H. Pai1,2, Francis Lau2

    Canadian Journal of Urology, Vol.12, No.3, pp. 2700-2709, 2005

Abstract Introduction: Providing men with prostate cancer (MPC) timely access to their health records and information (HRI) can enhance their ability to understand their condition and engage in shared medical decision making with their health care provider (HCP). The Internet is a potential means of enhancing such interactions.
Materials and methods: Two surveys were conducted at a PC support group in Victoria, BC to identify the health information needs of MPC and the ability to access their HRI. Another objective was to identify the potential role of web-enabled HRI systems at meeting these needs. Sixty-one participants (41 men… More >
