Abstract Due to rapid growth in wireless communication technology, higher bandwidth requirement for advance telecommunication systems, capable of operating on two or higher bands with higher channel capacities and minimum distortion losses is desired. In this paper, a compact Ultra-Wideband (UWB) V-shaped monopole antenna is presented. UWB response is achieved by modifying the ground plane with Chichen Itzia inspired rectangular staircase shape. The proposed V-shaped is designed by incorporating a rectangle, and an inverted isosceles triangle using FR4 substrate. The size of the antenna is 25 mm×26 mm×1.6 mm. The proposed V-shaped monopole antenna produces bandwidth response of 3 GHz Industrial,… More >

Detection of Number of Wideband Signals Based on Support Vector Machine

    Jiaqi Zhen1, *

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.63, No.1, pp. 445-455, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.06385

Abstract In array signal processing, number of signals is often a premise of estimating other parameters. For the sake of determining signal number in the condition of strong additive noise or a little sample data, an algorithm for detecting number of wideband signals is provided. First, technique of focusing is used for transforming signals into a same focusing subspace. Then the support vector machine (SVM) can be deduced by the information of eigenvalues and corresponding eigenvectors. At last, the signal number can be determined with the obtained decision function. Several simulations have been carried on verifying the proposed algorithm. More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.52, No.3, pp. 159-174, 2016, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2016.052.157

Abstract This paper is focused on the automated synthesis of wideband bandpass filters operating at microwave frequencies and based on electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structures. The classical counterpart of such filter consists of a combination of transmission line sections and shunt-connected grounded stubs placed at equidistant positions. By replacing the transmission line sections with capacitively-loaded lines (a kind of EBG-based lines) exhibiting the same phase shift at the lower cutoff frequency and the same characteristic (actually Bloch) impedance, filter size is reduced and the spurious pass bands can be efficiently suppressed. In practice, the loading capacitances are implemented by means of patches,… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.94, No.6, pp. 459-483, 2013, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2013.094.459

Abstract A coupling algorithm based on the finite element method and the wideband fast multipole boundary element method (FEM/wideband FMBEM) is proposed for the simulation of fluid-structure interaction and structural-acoustic sensitivity analysis using the direct differentiation method. The wideband fast multipole method (FMM) formed by combining the original FMM and the diagonal form FMM is used to accelerate the matrix-vector products in the boundary element analysis. The iterative solver GMRES is applied to accelerate the solution of the linear system of equations. The FEM/Wideband FMBEM algorithm makes it possible to predict the effects of arbitrarily shaped vibrating structures on the sound… More >

A Novel Metamaterial FSS-based Structure for Wideband Radome Applications

    Shiv Narayan1, R M Jha1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.37, No.2, pp. 97-108, 2013, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2013.037.097

Abstract A novel metamaterial based FSS (frequency selective surfaces) structure is presented in this paper for wideband airborne radome applications. The proposed metamaterial-FSS structure consists of three layers, where a DPS (double positive sign) layer is sandwiched between a MNG (μ-negative) and ENG (ε- negative) layer, exhibits very good bandpass characteristics inside the operational band along with excellent roll-off characteristics outside the band. The EM performance analysis of the proposed structure has been carried out using transmission line transfer matrix (TLTM) method, which shows excellent bandpass characteristics over a wide frequency range. The transmission efficiency is over 95% both at normal… More >
