A Numerical Investigation of the Thermal Performances of an Array of Heat Pipes for Battery Thermal Management

    Chaoyi Wan1, *

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.15, No.4, pp. 343-356, 2019, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2019.07812

Abstract A comparative numerical study has been conducted on the thermal performance of a heat pipe cooling system considering several influential factors such as the coolant flow rate, the coolant inlet temperature, and the input power. A comparison between numerical data and results available in the literature has demonstrated that our numerical procedure could successfully predict the heat transfer performance of the considered heat pipe cooling system for a battery. Specific indicators such as temperature, heat flux, and pressure loss were extracted to describe the characteristics of such a system. On the basis of the distributions More >

Investigation of the Mechanism of Grout Penetration in Intersected Fractures

    Yanxu Guo1, Peng Zhao2, Qingsong Zhang1, Rentai Liu1,*, Lianzhen Zhang3, Yankai Liu1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.15, No.4, pp. 321-342, 2019, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2019.07844

Abstract To study the penetration mechanism of cement-based slurry in intersected fractures during grouting and the related pressure distribution, we have used two different variants of cement, namely, basic cement slurry and fast-setting cement slurry. The influence of a retarder, time-varying viscosity, fracture width and location of injection hole is also considered. A finite element software is used to implement two and three-dimensional numerical models for grouting of intersected fractures in hydrostatic conditions. Results show that there are significant differences in the diffusion morphology and pressure distribution depending on the considered cement slurry. Retarder can More >

Optimization of the Heat Dissipation Structure and Temperature Distribution in an Electric Vehicle Power Battery

    Hongwang Zhao1, *, Yuanhua Chen1, Xiaogang Liu2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.15, No.4, pp. 293-305, 2019, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2019.08361

Abstract In order to ensure that the lithium-ion battery pack keeps good working performance during the driving of electric vehicle, the heat generation mechanism and heat transfer characteristics of lithium-ion battery are analyzed. The power battery pack of electric vehicle is simulated by advanced vehicle simulator. The simulation results of battery pack current under typical cycle conditions and the heat source curve of lithium ion battery are obtained, which provide data for the simulation of heat source input of battery temperature field. On this basis, the flow field and temperature fiel d of the original… More >

A Hybrid Approach of TLBO and EBPNN for Crop Yield Prediction Using Spatial Feature Vectors

    Preeti Tiwari1, *, Piyush Shukla1

    Journal on Artificial Intelligence, Vol.1, No.2, pp. 45-58, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jai.2019.04444

Abstract The prediction of crop yield is one of the important factor and also challenging, to predict the future crop yield based on various criteria’s. Many advanced technologies are incorporated in the agricultural processes, which enhances the crop yield production efficiency. The process of predicting the crop yield can be done by taking agriculture data, which helps to analyze and make important decisions before and during cultivation. This paper focuses on the prediction of crop yield, where two models of machine learning are developed for this work. One is Modified Convolutional Neural Network (MCNN), and the… More >

Study on Thermal Insulation Performance of Cross-Laminated Bamboo Wall

    Qingfang Lv1,*, Weiyang Wang1, Ye Liu1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.7, No.11, pp. 1231-1250, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2019.08345

Abstract In recent years, bamboo, as a green building material, has attracted more and more attention worldwide. Inspired by the investigation of cross-laminated timber in structural systems, a new engineered cross-laminated bamboo (CLB) consisting of the cross lamination of bamboo scrimber plates is proposed in this paper. To evaluate its potential in structural applications, the thermal insulation performances of the CLB walls and CLB walls with the EPS foam plate were studied and evaluated by the temperature-controlled box-heat flow meter method. Test results indicated that the thermal insulation performance improved with the increase of thickness, but More >

Extraction, Optical Properties and Bio-Imaging of Fluorescent Composition From Moso Bamboo Shoots

    Jinlai Yang1,2,3, Liangru Wu1,2,3,*, Yanhong Pan1,2,3, Hao Zhong1,2,3

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.7, No.11, pp. 1209-1219, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2019.07896

Abstract A novel fluorescent composition was firstly isolated from natural winter fresh Moso bamboo shoots, and its optical properties were fully investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy. It could emit strong blue light both in solid and solution state, providing high fluorescence intensity in ethanol. The solution’s concentration and addition of water greatly affected the fluorescence intensity, high concentration and addition of much water could quench fluorescence. Apoptosis results showed that the fluorescent extract (0-25 mg/L) could not induce apoptosis of Hela cells. Confocal fluorescent microscopic imaging in human hepatocellular carcinoma cells (HepG2) was realized using the fluorescent More >
