Abstract In order to study the fatigue properties of rib-to-deck welded connection and rib-to-rib welded connection in orthotropic steel bridge decks, a multi-scale finite element model was set up to analyze the stress distribution characteristics and the load test was conducted on the Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge. Comparing the vehicle test results with the multi-scale finite element model results to verify the accuracy of the finite element simulation for the stress response of two welded details. The results indicated that: The stress at the rib-to-deck welded connection and the rib-to-rib welded connection are the bending stress… More >

Dynamic Simulation of Cracked Buildings for Damage Detection

    Alan Alonso-Rivers1, Rolando Salgado-Estrada2,*

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.14, No.3, pp. 187-204, 2020, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2020.010743 - 14 September 2020

Abstract A dynamic simulation method for cracked structures is implemented to determine their dynamic response with the purpose of evaluating their structural behavior. The procedure makes possible the simulation of three-dimensional cracked structures. The excitation force is randomly generated to simulate wind gusts. It is assumed the structure remains in the elastic range, which allows for each mode that contributes to its dynamic response to be decoupled. The results indicate that the presence of damage causes changes in the modals parameters of the structure as accurate as other similar methods proposed for simpler structures. Therefore, it More >

Abstract A good hybrid vehicle control strategy cannot only meet the power requirements of the vehicle, but also effectively save fuel and reduce emissions. In this paper, the construction of model predictive control in hybrid electric vehicle is proposed. The solving process and the use of reference trajectory are discussed for the application of MPC based on dynamic programming algorithm. The simulation of hybrid electric vehicle is carried out under a specific working condition. The simulation results show that the control strategy can effectively reduce fuel consumption when the torque of engine and motor is reasonably More >

Abstract User portrait has been a booming concept in big data industry in recent years which is a direct way to restore users’ information. When it talks about user portrait, it will be connected with precise marketing and operating. However, there are more ways which can reflect the good use of user portrait. Commercial use is the most acceptable use but it also can be used in different industries widely. The goal of this paper is forecasting gender by user portrait and making it useful in transportation safety. It can extract the information from people who More >

A Real Time Vision-Based Smoking Detection Framework on Edge

    Ruilong Chen1, Guangfu Zeng1, Ke Wang2, Lei Luo1,*, Zhiping Cai1

    Journal on Internet of Things, Vol.2, No.2, pp. 55-64, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jiot.2020.09814 - 14 September 2020

Abstract Smoking is the main reason for fire disaster and pollution in petrol station, construction site and warehouse. Existing solutions based on wearable devices and smoking sensors were costly and hard to obtain evidence of smoking in unmanned scenarios. With the developments of closed circuit television (CCTV) system, vision-based methods for object detection, mostly driven by deep learning techniques, were introduced recently. However, the massive GPU computing hardware required by the deep learning algorithm made these methods hard to be deployed. This paper aims at solving the smoking detection problem on edge and proposes the solution More >

QDCT Encoding-Based Retrieval for Encrypted JPEG Images

    Qiuju Ji1, Peipeng Yu1, Zhihua Xia1, *

    Journal on Big Data, Vol.2, No.1, pp. 33-51, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jbd.2020.01004 - 07 September 2020

Abstract Aprivacy-preserving search model for JPEG images is proposed in paper, which uses the bag-of-encrypted-words based on QDCT (Quaternion Discrete Cosine Transform) encoding. The JPEG image is obtained by a series of steps such as DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) transformation, quantization, entropy coding, etc. In this paper, we firstly transform the images from spatial domain into quaternion domain. By analyzing the algebraic relationship between QDCT and DCT, a QDCT quantization table and QDTC coding for color images are proposed. Then the compressed image data is encrypted after the steps of block permutation, intra-block permutation, single table More >

Abstract Water resources are one of the basic resources for human survival, and water protection has been becoming a major problem for countries around the world. However, most of the traditional water quality monitoring research work is still concerned with the collection of water quality indicators, and ignored the analysis of water quality monitoring data and its value. In this paper, by adopting Laravel and AdminTE framework, we introduced how to design and implement a water quality data visualization platform based on Baidu ECharts. Through the deployed water quality sensor, the collected water quality indicator data More >
