TY - EJOU AU - Wang, Kai AU - Liu, Xinkai AU - Tang, Xiaolin TI - Study on Deformation and Differential Settlement of Large-Span Metro Foundation Pit with Top-Down Construction T2 - Structural Durability \& Health Monitoring PY - VL - IS - SN - 1930-2991 AB - Taking the foundation pit project of Zhongyilu Station as an example, this study established a numerical model using Plaxis 3D to analyze the impacts of the excavation of the metro station foundation pit on the horizontal deformation of the retaining structure, surface settlement, and differential settlement. Additionally, it analyzed the control of differential settlement through construction measures, including adjusting the diameter of lattice columns, soil reinforcement, and installing internal bracings. The research results show that with the excavation of the foundation pit, the horizontal displacement of the diaphragm wall and surface settlement gradually increase, while the differential settlement first increases and then stabilizes gradually. To control differential settlement, priority should be given to adjusting the diameter of the upper columns of lattice columns rather than the lower columns, and it is recommended that the diameter of the upper columns be set at 1.0–1.1 m. Soil reinforcement and installation of internal bracings can effectively control the deformation of the foundation pit and the surrounding environment, with a recommended reinforcement thickness of 6 m. When it is necessary to control the deformation and differential settlement of the foundation pit, the above three methods should be used in combination.
