Summary
The International Conference on Thermal Engineering (ICTEA) series was inspired to help provide an opportunity for the professional development of scientists and engineers in the Middle East, including the Gulf region and North Africa. The need for such action persists, despite the strong commitment of regional governments to improving undergraduate education and building research capabilities in institutions of higher learning. Well-defined and focused high-quality scientific/technical meetings dedicated to contacts between academics and researchers in regional institutions of higher education and their counterparts abroad are scarce. Topics related to the environment, energy, petroleum, and construction are obvious examples of thermal engineering applications that are crucial to the region's economic development. In this special issue, papers selected from the conference will be peer-reviewed and included in this issue. This issue is mainly dedicated to the outcome of the meeting. The topics related to this conference and this special issue is found at www.ictea.ca.
