Summary
The development of several branches of modern technology and industry, such as aircraft construction, space technology, radio electronics, and mechanical engineering, requires the creation of materials suitable for long-term operation at high temperatures, increased radiation and deformation fields, in the presence of reduced pressure, friction, and chemically aggressive environments. Promising in this direction is the development and application of polymer composite materials and coatings based on epoxy resins, which have several advantages over other polymers due to high manufacturability, adhesive strength, hardness, wear resistance, corrosion and radiation resistance, and resistance to rapidly changing temperature fields.
In this special issue, we will explore in detail three main topics: development, structural investigation, and application of epoxy composites for radiation protection.
(1) Development: This topic will discuss the technologies for the synthesis and treatment of epoxy composite materials with various energy fields (temperature, radiation, electromagnetic radiation, ultrasound, etc.) in order to improve their physico-mechanical and operational properties.
(2) Characterization: This section will discuss the methods for studying the molecular structure of epoxy composites (modern analytical methods, electron microscopy, IR spectroscopy, mechanical testing), which will allow researchers to establish a relationship between the structure and properties of epoxy composites.
(3) Application: This topic will focus on new applications of epoxy composites in mechanical engineering, radio electronics, nuclear power, aerospace, medicine, and scientific research.
