Adaptive Reclosing Scheme Based on Traveling Wave Injection For Multi-Terminal dc Grids

    Peng Han1,*, Xinchen Zhao1, Yannan Wu1, Zhiyu Zhou2, Qi Qi3

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.5, pp. 1271-1285, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.027489

Abstract The hybrid dc circuit breaker (HCB) has the advantages of fast action speed and low operating loss, which is an ideal method for fault isolation of multi-terminal dc grids. For multi-terminal dc grids that transmit power through overhead lines, HCBs are required to have reclosing capability due to the high fault probability and the fact that most of the faults are temporary faults. To avoid the secondary fault strike and equipment damage that may be caused by the reclosing of the HCB when the permanent fault occurs, an adaptive reclosing scheme based on traveling wave injection is proposed in this… More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.5, pp. 2279-2300, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.025529

Abstract Thailand has a huge variability of bast fiber plants, some of which have been little researched regarding their applicability in composites. Bast fiber(bundle)s from different species were investigated and incorporated into a polylactide (PLA) matrix by injection molding. Hemp and kenaf were used as well-studied fibers, while roselle, Fryxell and paper mulberry are less extensively characterized. Tensile strength, tensile modulus and interfacial shear strength (IFSS) of single fiber(bundle)s were highest for hemp, followed by kenaf, roselle, Fryxell and paper mulberry. Despite the lower tensile strength and IFSS of paper mulberry, the highest tensile strength was achieved for the paper mulberry/PLA… More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract The Repository Mahasiswa (RAMA) is a national repository of research reports in the form of final assignments, student projects, theses, dissertations, and research reports of lecturers or researchers that have not yet been published in journals, conferences, or integrated books from the scientific repository of universities and research institutes in Indonesia. The increasing popularity of the RAMA Repository leads to security issues, including the two most widespread, vulnerable attacks i.e., Structured Query Language (SQL) injection and cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks. An attacker gaining access to data and performing unauthorized data modifications is extremely dangerous. This paper aims to provide an… More >

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 255-271, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.034193

Abstract The recent developments in smart cities pose major security issues for the Internet of Things (IoT) devices. These security issues directly result from inappropriate security management protocols and their implementation by IoT gadget developers. Cyber-attackers take advantage of such gadgets’ vulnerabilities through various attacks such as injection and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. In this background, Intrusion Detection (ID) is the only way to identify the attacks and mitigate their damage. The recent advancements in Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) models are useful in effectively classifying cyber-attacks. The current research paper introduces a new Coot Optimization Algorithm… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.4, pp. 1003-1014, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.022262

Abstract Biodiesel fuel is a potential alternative energy source for diesel engines due to its physiochemical characteristics relatively similar to those of traditional diesel fuel. In this study, the performance, emission, and combustion features of a mono cylinder DI diesel engine are assessed using 20% Pumpkin seed methyl ester (PSOME20) and considering varying injection pressures (200, 220, 240, and 260 bar). The considered Pumpkin seed oil is converted into pumpkin biodiesel by transesterification and then used as fuel. The findings demonstrate that the Brake Thermal Efficiency (BTE) of PSOME20 can be raised by 1.68%, and the carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbon (HC),… More > Graphic Abstract

Influence of Urea Uneven Injection on the Performances of a Diesel Engine

Chang Huang, Shuzhan Bai, Guoxiang Li*, Ke Sun*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.1, pp. 83-93, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.021662

Abstract The influence of heterogeneous flow injection of urea at different velocities and temperatures on NOx conversion efficiency, ammonia storage and ammonia leakage is investigated experimentally. A diesel engine employing a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology is considered. It is found that for a fixed injection velocity, the degree of ammonia leakage changes depending on the temperature. The higher the temperature, the faster the catalytic reduction reaction and the smaller the degree of ammonia leakage. The temperature has a great influence on the catalytic reduction reaction rate. At an injection velocity of 10000/h, the average reaction rate at 420 C is… More >

    Mouna Bedoui1,*, Belgacem Bouallegue1,2, Abdelmoty M. Ahmed2, Belgacem Hamdi1,3, Mohsen Machhout1, Mahmoud1, M. Khattab2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 2177-2193, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.026516

Abstract Since the end of the 1990s, cryptosystems implemented on smart cards have had to deal with two main categories of attacks: side-channel attacks and fault injection attacks. Countermeasures have been developed and validated against these two types of attacks, taking into account a well-defined attacker model. This work focuses on small vulnerabilities and countermeasures related to the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) algorithm. The work done in this paper focuses on protecting the ECDSA algorithm against fault-injection attacks. More precisely, we are interested in the countermeasures of scalar multiplication in the body of the elliptic curves to protect against… More >

Abstract A solubility model for Merocyanine-540 dye together with the interface's electron transfer kinetics of MC-540/TiO2 has been investigated (Merocyanine 540-based dye has been used effectively in dye-sensitized solar cells). The highest absorption peaks were recorded at 489 nm and 493 nm in Water and Ethanol solvent, versus the vacuum phase which yielded 495 nm (associated with a modest electron injection-free energy value (ΔGinj) of -2.34 eV for both Water and Ethanol solvents). The time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) method approach has been applied in this simulation. Additionally, the electronic structure and simulated UV-Vis spectra of the dye in different solvents… More > Graphic Abstract
