Intrusion Detection and Security Attacks Mitigation in Smart Cities with Integration of Human-Computer Interaction

    Abeer Alnuaim*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.86, No.1, pp. 1-33, 2026, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.069110 - 10 November 2025

Abstract The rapid digitalization of urban infrastructure has made smart cities increasingly vulnerable to sophisticated cyber threats. In the evolving landscape of cybersecurity, the efficacy of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) is increasingly measured by technical performance, operational usability, and adaptability. This study introduces and rigorously evaluates a Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)-Integrated IDS with the utilization of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), CNN-Long Short Term Memory (LSTM), and Random Forest (RF) against both a Baseline Machine Learning (ML) and a Traditional IDS model, through an extensive experimental framework encompassing many performance metrics, including detection latency, accuracy, alert prioritization, classification… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.145, No.2, pp. 1903-1940, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2025.072973 - 26 November 2025

Abstract This paper proposes a model-based control framework for vehicle platooning systems with second-order nonlinear dynamics operating over switching signed networks, time-varying delays, and deception attacks. The study includes two configurations: a leaderless structure using Finite-Time Non-Singular Terminal Bipartite Consensus (FNTBC) and Fixed-Time Bipartite Consensus (FXTBC), and a leader—follower structure ensuring structural balance and robustness against deceptive signals. In the leaderless model, a bipartite controller based on impulsive control theory, gauge transformation, and Markovian switching Lyapunov functions ensures mean-square stability and coordination under deception attacks and communication delays. The FNTBC achieves finite-time convergence depending on initial More >

    Shrabani Sutradhar1,2, Rajesh Bose3, Sudipta Majumder1, Arfat Ahmad Khan4,*, Sandip Roy3, Fasee Ullah5, Deepak Prashar6,7

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.83, No.3, pp. 3975-4029, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.061965 - 19 May 2025

Abstract Cloud-based setups are intertwined with the Internet of Things and advanced, and technologies such as blockchain revolutionize conventional healthcare infrastructure. This digitization has major advantages, mainly enhancing the security barriers of the green tree infrastructure. In this study, we conducted a systematic review of over 150 articles that focused exclusively on blockchain-based healthcare systems, security vulnerabilities, cyberattacks, and system limitations. In addition, we considered several solutions proposed by thousands of researchers worldwide. Our results mostly delineate sustained threats and security concerns in blockchain-based medical health infrastructures for data management, transmission, and processing. Here, we describe… More >

Quick Response Code Security Attacks and Countermeasures: A Systematic Literature Review

    David Njuguna*, John Ndia

    Journal of Cyber Security, Vol.7, pp. 1-20, 2025, DOI:10.32604/jcs.2025.059398 - 18 February 2025

Abstract A quick response code is a barcode that allows users to instantly access information via a digital device. Quick response codes store data as pixels in a square-shaped grid. QR codes are prone to cyber-attacks. This assault exploits human vulnerabilities, as users can scarcely discern what is concealed in the quick response code prior to usage. The aim of the study was to investigate Quick Response code attack types and the detection techniques. To achieve the objective, 50 relevant studies published between the year 2010 and 2024 were identified. The articles were obtained from the… More >

Detection of Phishing in Internet-of-Things Using Hybrid Deep Belief Network

    S. Ashwini*, S. Magesh Kumar

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.3, pp. 3043-3056, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.034551 - 15 March 2023

Abstract Increase in the use of internet of things owned devices is one of the reasons for increased network traffic. While connecting the smart devices with publicly available network many kinds of phishing attacks are able to enter into the mobile devices and corrupt the existing system. The Phishing is the slow and resilient attack stacking techniques probe the users. The proposed model is focused on detecting phishing attacks in internet of things enabled devices through a robust algorithm called Novel Watch and Trap Algorithm (NWAT). Though Predictive mapping, Predictive Validation and Predictive analysis mechanism is… More >

Optimized Fuzzy Enabled Semi-Supervised Intrusion Detection System for Attack Prediction

    Gautham Praveen Ramalingam1, R. Arockia Xavier Annie1, Shobana Gopalakrishnan2,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.3, pp. 1479-1492, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.022211 - 09 December 2021

Abstract Detection of intrusion plays an important part in data protection. Intruders will carry out attacks from a compromised user account without being identified. The key technology is the effective detection of sundry threats inside the network. However, process automation is experiencing expanded use of information communication systems, due to high versatility of interoperability and ease off 34 administration. Traditional knowledge technology intrusion detection systems are not completely tailored to process automation. The combined use of fuzziness-based and RNN-IDS is therefore highly suited to high-precision classification, and its efficiency is better compared to that of conventional More >

A Secure and Efficient Cluster-Based Authentication Scheme for Internet of Things (IoTs)

    Kanwal Imran1,*, Nasreen Anjum2, Abdullah Alghamdi3, Asadullah Shaikh3, Mohammed Hamdi3, Saeed Mahfooz1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 1033-1052, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.018589 - 07 September 2021

Abstract IPv6 over Low Power Wireless Personal Area Network (6LoWPAN) provides IP connectivity to the highly constrained nodes in the Internet of Things (IoTs). 6LoWPAN allows nodes with limited battery power and storage capacity to carry IPv6 datagrams over the lossy and error-prone radio links offered by the IEEE 802.15.4 standard, thus acting as an adoption layer between the IPv6 protocol and IEEE 802.15.4 network. The data link layer of IEEE 802.15.4 in 6LoWPAN is based on AES (Advanced Encryption Standard), but the 6LoWPAN standard lacks and has omitted the security and privacy requirements at higher… More >
