    Huaxi Lu1,*, Zhicheng Gao1, Luyao Xu1, Bitao Wu1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.118, No.1, pp. 177-205, 2019, DOI:10.31614/cmes.2019.04169

Abstract The railway environmental vibration caused by high-speed railways is harmful to the human health, the structural safety of adjacent buildings, and the normal use of precision instruments. At the same time, it occurs frequently. In this case, the railway environmental vibration has drawn much attention with the rapid development of high-speed railways. Studies in Earthquake Engineering show that a convex topography has a great impact on ground vibrations, however, there is no consideration about the convex topographic effect in the study of the railway environmental vibration when the convex topography is near the roadway. Forced and Natural Vibrations of an Orthotropic Pre-Stressed Rectangular Plate with Neighboring Two Cylindrical Cavities

    U. Babuscu Yesil1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.53, No.1, pp. 1-22, 2017, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2017.053.001

Abstract Forced and natural vibrations of a rectangular pre-stressed orthotropic composite plate containing two neighboring cylindrical cavities whose cross sections are rectangular with rounded-off corners are investigated numerically. It is assumed that all the end surfaces of the rectangular pre-stressed composite plate are simply supported and subjected to a uniformly distributed normal time-harmonic force on the upper face plane. The considered problem is formulated within the Three-Dimensional Linearized Theory of Elastic Waves in Initially Stressed Bodies (TDLTEWISB). The influence of mechanical and geometrical parameters as well as the initial stresses and the effect of cylindrical cavities More >

    Sen-Yung Lee1, Shueei-Muh Lin2,3, Kai-Ping Chang1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.51, No.1, pp. 1-19, 2016, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2016.051.001

Abstract The two coupled governing differential equations for the out-of-plane vibrations of non-uniform beams with variable curvature are derived via the Hamilton's principle. These equations are expressed in terms of flexural and torsional displacements simultaneously. In this study, the analytical method is proposed. Firstly, two physical parameters are introduced to simplify the analysis. One derives the explicit relations between the flexural and the torsional displacements which can also be used to reduce the difficulty in experimental measurements. Based on the relation, the two governing characteristic differential equations with variable coefficients can be uncoupled into a sixth-order More >

    Salvatore Brischetto1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.104, No.4, pp. 305-327, 2015, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2015.104.305

Abstract This paper proposes the free vibration analysis of Double-Walled Carbon NanoTubes (DWCNTs). A continuum elastic three-dimensional shell model is used for natural frequency investigation of simply supported DWCNTs. The 3D shell method is compared with beam analyses to show the applicability limits of 1D beam models. The effect of van der Waals interaction between the two cylinders is shown for different Carbon NanoTube (CNT) lengths and vibration modes. Results give the van der Waals interaction effect in terms of frequency values. In order to apply the 3D shell continuum model, DWCNTs are defined as two More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.49-50, No.1, pp. 47-80, 2015, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2015.049.047

Abstract This paper deals with the implementation of the one dimensional form of the fractional order derivative constitutive relation for three dimensional analysis of active constrained layer damping (ACLD) of geometrically nonlinear laminated composite plates. The constraining layer of the ACLD treatment is composed of the vertically/obliquely reinforced 1–3 piezoelectric composites (PZCs). The von Kármán type nonlinear strain displacement relations are used to account for the geometric nonlinearity of the plates. A nonlinear smart finite element model (FEM) has been developed. Thin laminated substrate composite plates with various boundary conditions and stacking sequences are analyzed to More >

    P.A. Meroño1, F.C. Gómez2, F. Marín1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.47, No.2, pp. 107-125, 2015, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2015.047.107

Abstract This work represents a comparative study of Wavelet Transform of angular vibration signal and the traditional Fourier analysis applied to the signals of angular vibration, in one transmission which involve gears. How it is known, the elastic deformation of the material, together with the superficial irregularities of the teeth due to wear, provoke characteristic angular oscillations, which make it possible to distinguish between the regular functioning of a mechanism in good condition and the angular vibrations provoked by wear and the superficial irregularities of teeth in poor condition. However, the character of the vibrations produced More >

Forced Vibrations of a System Consisting of a Pre-strained Highly Elastic Plate under Compressible Viscous Fluid Loading

    S. D. Akbarov1,2, M. I. Ismailov3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.97, No.4, pp. 359-390, 2014, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2014.097.359

Abstract The forced vibration of the system consisting of the pre-stretched plate made of highly-elastic material and half-plane filled by barotropic compressible Newtonian viscous fluid is considered. It is assumed that this forced vibration is caused by the lineal located time-harmonic force acting on the free face plane of the plate. The motion of the pre-stretched plate is written by utilizing of the linearized exact equations of the theory of elastic waves in the initially stressed bodies, but the motion of the compressible viscous fluid is described by the linearized Navier-Stokes equations. The elastic relations of… More >

    J. Labaki1, E. Mesquita2, R. K. N. D. Rajapakse3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.103, No.5, pp. 281-313, 2014, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2014.103.281

Abstract This paper introduces a numerical model to investigate the vibratory response of elastic and rigid circular plates embedded in viscoelastic, transversely isotropic, three-dimensional layered media. In the present numerical scheme, the boundary-value problem corresponding to the case of time-harmonic concentrated and distributed axisymmetric vertical ring loads within a layered half-space is formulated according to an exact stiffness method. Its solution results in the required influence functions for the modeling of the present problem. The case of an embedded flexible plate is formulated in terms of a variational method. The deflection profile of the plate is… More >
