Aims & Scope

AIBR – Revista de Antropología Iberoamericana (Ibero-American Journal of Anthropology) (ISSN: 1695-9752, EISSN: 1578-9705), is an independent publication founded in 2002 by an international team of academics, researchers, and professionals. Our mission is to provide open access to leading research in the field of Anthropology, the discipline that studies humankind in all its aspects.

Our journal is open to all theoretical and methodological approaches within anthropology. We promote a critical, rigorous, and interdisciplinary approach to foster dialogue and research exchange.

AIBR is committed to publishing high-quality research across Anthropology, including sociocultural anthropology, archaeology, biological anthropology, and linguistic anthropology, as well as interdisciplinary approaches that enrich the discipline. Since 2002, we have welcomed contributions from scholars around the world, providing a forum for diverse theoretical perspectives, methodological innovations, and ethnographically grounded research. This international vocation has enabled us to promote dialogue among anthropologists working in different academic traditions while advancing a broader understanding of human diversity.

We are independent of any political, ideological, or economic affiliation, thus guaranteeing intellectual freedom and a commitment to high-quality research. We consider the arts and sciences to be a common good and advocate open access to knowledge, ensuring our content is accessible to researchers, students, and the general public without restrictions.

Our goal is to contribute to the advancement of anthropological thought and to the understanding of human diversity as a trait that makes our species unique, fostering academic collaboration and the exchange of ideas with knowledge communities around the world.

Language of Publication

All articles submitted to AIBR must be written and published in English or Spanish. Manuscripts submitted in Spanish must include an English title, abstract, and keywords.

Ethics Statement

The journal follows TSP’s editorial integrity framework. Policies and procedures regarding research ethics, peer-review standards, corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions are implemented in accordance with TSP’s Publication Ethics Policies.

TSP takes responsibility for enforcing rigorous peer review together with strict ethical policies and standards to ensure the addition of the highest quality scientific works to the field of scholarly publication. TSP takes such publishing ethics issues very seriously on every level. Our staff are trained to identify and report any irregularities. Our editors follow the Guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and proceed with a zero-tolerance policy for ethical violations, including plagiarism, data falsification and authorship misconduct. To confirm the originality of all submitted manuscripts, we use iThenticate for similarity checks against prior publications.
