Abstract Providing comfortable indoor air quality control in residential construction is an exceedingly important issue. This is due to the structure of the fast response controller of air quality. The presented work shows the breakdown and creation of a mathematical model for an interactive, nonlinear system for the required comfortable air quality. Furthermore, the paper refers to designing traditional proportional integral derivative regulators and proportional, integral, derivative regulators with independent parameters based on a backpropagation neural network. In the end, we perform the experimental outputs of a suggested backpropagation neural network-based proportional, integral, derivative controller and analyze model results by applying… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 151-169, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.019431

Abstract The impact of daily emissions of gaseous and particulate pollutants of machines and industries on human health and the environment has attracted increasing concerns. This impact has significantly led to a notable increase in mortality in the highly industrialized zones. Therefore, monitoring air quality and creating public awareness are important for a safer future, which led the governments globally to invest multi-billion in policymaking and solution stratification to address the problem. This study aims to design a real-time Internet of Things low-cost air quality monitoring system. The system utilizes air quality and carbon monoxide sensors for monitoring gaseous pollutants. Moreover,… More >

Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulation of Indoor Air Quality and Thermal Stratification of an Underfloor Air Distribution System (UFAD) with Various Vent Layouts

Neil Stephen Lopez1,*, Selena Kay Galeos1, Brian Raphael Calderon1, David Roy Dominguez1, Bryan Joseph Uy1, Rupesh Iyengar2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.2, pp. 333-347, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.011213

Abstract The underfloor air distribution (UFAD) system has not been able to penetrate the residential and commercial air conditioning industry significantly until now. To date, the most notable applications are found in datacenters because of their more demanding thermal stratification and cooling requirements. In addition to highlighting the advantages of the UFAD system over the traditional overhead (OH) system, this study compares various ventilation layouts for a UFAD system. Four different UFAD ventilation layouts are compared and one OH layout. The results show that using multiple swirl-type diffusers creates a more uniform floor-to-knee temperature and less air recirculation than the rectangular… More >

COVID19: Forecasting Air Quality Index and Particulate Matter (PM2.5)

    R. Mangayarkarasi1, C. Vanmathi1,*, Mohammad Zubair Khan2, Abdulfattah Noorwali3, Rachit Jain4, Priyansh Agarwal4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.3, pp. 3363-3380, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014991

Abstract Urbanization affects the quality of the air, which has drastically degraded in the past decades. Air quality level is determined by measures of several air pollutant concentrations. To create awareness among people, an automation system that forecasts the quality is needed. The COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions it has imposed on anthropogenic activities have resulted in a drop in air pollution in various cities in India. The overall air quality index (AQI) at any particular time is given as the maximum band for any pollutant. PM2.5 is a fine particulate matter of a size less than 2.5 micrometers, the inhalation… More >

Combining Trend-Based Loss with Neural Network for Air Quality Forecasting in Internet of Things

    Weiwen Kong1, Baowei Wang1,2,3,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.125, No.2, pp. 849-863, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.012818

Abstract Internet of Things (IoT) is a network that connects things in a special union. It embeds a physical entity through an intelligent perception system to obtain information about the component at any time. It connects various objects. IoT has the ability of information transmission, information perception, andinformationprocessing.Theairqualityforecastinghasalways been an urgent problem, which affects people’s quality of life seriously. So far, many air quality prediction algorithms have been proposed, which can be mainly classifed into two categories. One is regression-based prediction, the other is deep learning-based prediction. Regression-based prediction is aimed to make use of the classical regression algorithm and the various… More >

An Internet of Things Platform for Air Station Remote Sensing and Smart Monitoring

    David Corral-Plaza1, Juan Boubeta-Puig1, Guadalupe Ortiz1, Alfonso Garcia-de-Prado2,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.35, No.1, pp. 5-12, 2020, DOI:10.32604/csse.2020.35.005

Abstract Air pollution is currently receiving more attention by international governments and organizations. Nevertheless, current systems for air quality monitoring lack essential requirements which are key in order to be effective concerning users’ access to the information and efficient regarding real-time monitoring and notification. This paper presents an Internet of Things platform for air station remote sensing and smart monitoring that combines Big Data and Cloud Computing paradigms to process and correlate air pollutant concentrations coming from multiple remote stations, as well as to trigger automatic and personalized alerts when a health risk for their particular context is detected. This platform… More >

Abstract Air quality prediction is an important part of environmental governance. The accuracy of the air quality prediction also affects the planning of people’s outdoor activities. How to mine effective information from historical data of air pollution and reduce unimportant factors to predict the law of pollution change is of great significance for pollution prevention, pollution control and pollution early warning. In this paper, we take into account that there are different trends in air pollutants and that different climatic factors have different effects on air pollutants. Firstly, the data of air pollutants in different cities are collected by a sliding… More >

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.20, No.1, pp. 9-10, 2011, DOI:10.3970/icces.2011.020.009

Abstract Automobiles are used every day and air quality in the automobile is directly related to people's health. This paper focuses on the distribution of automotive interior carbon dioxide on the highway. A typical sedan is chosen as a sample. Carbon-dioxide meter and wind meter are used to get essential data. Then, the data is analyzed by the commercial CFD software - GAMBITAR and FLUENTAR. After plotting and comparing the contours of the distribution, how changing the fan speed will change the distribution is got. First, concentration of carbon dioxide at the bottom is always the highest region among the whole… More >
