Arabic Named Entity Recognition: A BERT-BGRU Approach

    Norah Alsaaran*, Maha Alrabiah

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 471-485, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016054

Abstract Named Entity Recognition (NER) is one of the fundamental tasks in Natural Language Processing (NLP), which aims to locate, extract, and classify named entities into a predefined category such as person, organization and location. Most of the earlier research for identifying named entities relied on using handcrafted features and very large knowledge resources, which is time consuming and not adequate for resource-scarce languages such as Arabic. Recently, deep learning achieved state-of-the-art performance on many NLP tasks including NER without requiring hand-crafted features. In addition, transfer learning has also proven its efficiency in several NLP tasks by exploiting pretrained language models… More >

Adversarial Active Learning for Named Entity Recognition in Cybersecurity

    Tao Li1, Yongjin Hu1,*, Ankang Ju1, Zhuoran Hu2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 407-420, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.012023

Abstract Owing to the continuous barrage of cyber threats, there is a massive amount of cyber threat intelligence. However, a great deal of cyber threat intelligence come from textual sources. For analysis of cyber threat intelligence, many security analysts rely on cumbersome and time-consuming manual efforts. Cybersecurity knowledge graph plays a significant role in automatics analysis of cyber threat intelligence. As the foundation for constructing cybersecurity knowledge graph, named entity recognition (NER) is required for identifying critical threat-related elements from textual cyber threat intelligence. Recently, deep neural network-based models have attained very good results in NER. However, the performance of these… More >

LSTM Neural Network for Beat Classification in ECG Identity Recognition

    Xin Liu1,*, Yujuan Si1,2, Di Wang1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.26, No.2, pp. 341-351, 2020, DOI:10.31209/2019.100000104

Abstract As a biological signal existing in the human living body, the electrocardiogram (ECG) contains abundantly personal information and fulfils the basic characteristics of identity recognition. It has been widely used in the field of individual identification research in recent years. The common process of identity recognition includes three steps: ECG signals preprocessing, feature extraction and processing, beat classification recognition. However, the existing ECG classification models are sensitive to limitations of database type and extracted features dimension, which makes classification accuracy difficult to improve and cannot meet the needs of practical applications. To tackle the problem, this paper proposes to build… More >

Tibetan Multi-Dialect Speech and Dialect Identity Recognition

    Yue Zhao1, Jianjian Yue1, Wei Song1,*, Xiaona Xu1, Xiali Li1, Licheng Wu1, Qiang Ji2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.60, No.3, pp. 1223-1235, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05636

Abstract Tibetan language has very limited resource for conventional automatic speech recognition so far. It lacks of enough data, sub-word unit, lexicons and word inventories for some dialects. And speech content recognition and dialect classification have been treated as two independent tasks and modeled respectively in most prior works. But the two tasks are highly correlated. In this paper, we present a multi-task WaveNet model to perform simultaneous Tibetan multi-dialect speech recognition and dialect identification. It avoids processing the pronunciation dictionary and word segmentation for new dialects, while, in the meantime, allows training speech recognition and dialect identification in a single… More >
