Information Security Evaluation of Industrial Control Systems Using Probabilistic Linguistic MCDM Method

    Wenshu Xu, Mingwei Lin*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.1, pp. 199-222, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.041475

Abstract Industrial control systems (ICSs) are widely used in various fields, and the information security problems of ICSs are increasingly serious. The existing evaluation methods fail to describe the uncertain evaluation information and group evaluation information of experts. Thus, this paper introduces the probabilistic linguistic term sets (PLTSs) to model the evaluation information of experts. Meanwhile, we propose a probabilistic linguistic multi-criteria decision-making (PL-MCDM) method to solve the information security assessment problem of ICSs. Firstly, we propose a novel subscript equivalence distance measure of PLTSs to improve the existing methods. Secondly, we use the Best Worst Method (BWM) method and Criteria… More >

    Abdulaziz Attaallah1, Khalil al-Sulbi2, Areej Alasiry3, Mehrez Marzougui3, Neha Yadav4, Syed Anas Ansar5,*, Pawan Kumar Chaurasia4, Alka Agrawal4

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.2, pp. 1853-1875, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.039761

Abstract Connected and autonomous vehicles are seeing their dawn at this moment. They provide numerous benefits to vehicle owners, manufacturers, vehicle service providers, insurance companies, etc. These vehicles generate a large amount of data, which makes privacy and security a major challenge to their success. The complicated machine-led mechanics of connected and autonomous vehicles increase the risks of privacy invasion and cyber security violations for their users by making them more susceptible to data exploitation and vulnerable to cyber-attacks than any of their predecessors. This could have a negative impact on how well-liked CAVs are with the general public, give them… More >

Abstract The current cyber-attack environment has put even the most protected systems at risk as the hackers are now modifying technologies to exploit even the tiniest of weaknesses and infiltrate networks. In this situation, it's critical to design and construct software that is both secure and long-lasting. While security is the most well-defined aspect of health information software systems, it is equally significant to prioritise sustainability because any health information software system will be more effective if it provides both security and sustainability to the customers at the same time. In this league, it is crucial to determine those characteristics in… More >

    Masood Ahmad1, Jehad F. Al-Amri2, Ahmad F. Subahi3, Sabita Khatri2, Adil Hussain Seh1, Mohd Nadeem1, Alka Agrawal1,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.41, No.2, pp. 811-828, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.020097

Abstract The current study discusses the different methods used to secure healthcare devices and proposes a quantitative framework to list them in order of significances. The study uses the Hesitant Fuzzy (HF), Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) integrated with Fuzzy Technical for Order Preference by Similarities to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) to classify the best alternatives to security techniques for healthcare devices to securing the devices. The technique is enlisted to rate the alternatives based on the degree of satisfaction of their weights. The ranks of the alternatives consequently decide the order of priority for the techniques. A1 was the most probable alternative… More >

Abstract Transformation from conventional business management systems to smart digital systems is a recurrent trend in the current era. This has led to digital revolution, and in this context, the hardwired technologies in the software industry play a significant role However, from the beginning, software security remains a serious issue for all levels of stakeholders. Software vulnerabilities lead to intrusions that cause data breaches and result in disclosure of sensitive data, compromising the organizations’ reputation that translates into, financial losses as well. Most of the data breaches are financially motivated, especially in the healthcare sector. The cyber invaders continuously penetrate the… More >

Multi-Level Hesitant Fuzzy Based Model for Usable-Security Assessment

    Mohd Nadeem1, Jehad F. Al-Amri2, Ahmad F. Subahi3, Adil Hussain Seh1, Suhel Ahmad Khan4, Alka Agrawal1, Raees Ahmad Khan1,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.1, pp. 61-82, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.019624

Abstract Present day healthcare sector is frequently victimized by the intruders. Healthcare data industry has borne the brunt of the highest number of data breach episodes in the last few years. The key reason for this is attributed to the sensitivity of healthcare data and the high costs entailed in trading the data over the dark web. Hence, usable-security evaluation of healthcare information systems is the need of hour so as to identify the vulnerabilities and provide preventive measures as a shield against the breaches. Usable-security assessment will help the software designers and developers to prioritize usable-security attributes according to the… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 593-603, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.015092

Abstract Security of the Internet of Healthcare Things (IoHT) devices plays a vital role in e-healthcare today and there has been a rapid increase in the use of networked devices of IoHT in the present healthcare services. However, these networked devices are also highly vulnerable to attackers who constantly target the security of devices and their components to gain access to the patients’ data. Infringement of patients’ data is not only a violation of privacy but can also jeopardize patients’ health if the health records are tampered with. Once the device has been intruded upon, attackers can not only change the… More >
