    Kai Long1, Ayesha Saeed1, Jinhua Zhang2, Yara Diaeldin1, Feiyu Lu1, Tao Tao3, Yuhua Li1,*, Pengwen Sun4, Jinshun Yan5

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.139, No.1, pp. 43-67, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.031538

Abstract This paper offers an extensive overview of the utilization of sequential approximate optimization approaches in the context of numerically simulated large-scale continuum structures. These structures, commonly encountered in engineering applications, often involve complex objective and constraint functions that cannot be readily expressed as explicit functions of the design variables. As a result, sequential approximation techniques have emerged as the preferred strategy for addressing a wide array of topology optimization challenges. Over the past several decades, topology optimization methods have been advanced remarkably and successfully applied to solve engineering problems incorporating diverse physical backgrounds. In comparison to the large-scale equation solution,… More >

Design of a Computational Heuristic to Solve the Nonlinear Liénard Differential Model

Li Yan1, Zulqurnain Sabir2, Esin Ilhan3, Muhammad Asif Zahoor Raja4, Wei Gao5, Haci Mehmet Baskonus6,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.1, pp. 201-221, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.025094

Abstract In this study, the design of a computational heuristic based on the nonlinear Liénard model is presented using the efficiency of artificial neural networks (ANNs) along with the hybridization procedures of global and local search approaches. The global search genetic algorithm (GA) and local search sequential quadratic programming scheme (SQPS) are implemented to solve the nonlinear Liénard model. An objective function using the differential model and boundary conditions is designed and optimized by the hybrid computing strength of the GA-SQPS. The motivation of the ANN procedures along with GA-SQPS comes to present reliable, feasible and precise frameworks to tackle stiff… More >

A Novel IoT Application Recommendation System Using Metaheuristic Multi-Criteria Analysis

    Mohammed Hayder Kadhim, Farhad Mardukhi*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.37, No.2, pp. 149-158, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.014608

Abstract There are a variety of Internet of Things (IoT) applications that cover different aspects of daily life. Each of these applications has different criteria and sub-criteria, making it difficult for the user to choose. This requires an automated approach to select IoT applications by considering criteria. This paper presents a novel recommendation system for presenting applications on the IoT. First, using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), a multi-layer architecture of the criteria and sub-criteria in IoT applications is presented. This architecture is used to evaluate and rank IoT applications. As a result, finding the weight of the criteria and sub-criteria… More >

Model Predictive Control for Nonlinear Energy Management of a Power Split Hybrid Electric Vehicle

    Dehua Shi1,4, Shaohua Wang1,2,*, Yingfeng Cai1, Long Chen1, ChaoChun Yuan1, ChunFang Yin3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.26, No.1, pp. 27-39, 2020, DOI:10.31209/2018.100000062

Abstract Model predictive control (MPC), owing to the capability of dealing with nonlinear and constrained problems, is quite promising for optimization. Different MPC strategies are investigated to optimize HEV nonlinear energy management for better fuel economy. Based on Bellman’s principle, dynamic programming is firstly used in the limited horizon to obtain optimal solutions. By considering MPC as a nonlinear programming problem, sequential quadratic programming (SQP) is used to obtain the descent directions of control variables and the current control input is further derived. To reduce computation and meet the requirements of real-time control, the nonlinear model of the system is approximated… More >
