Announcing the Inaugural CMES Young Researcher Award


The first-ever Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences Young Researcher Award recognizes outstanding research in computer modeling and simulation by a 2020 Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences author or coauthors.  


Eligibility Requirements:    

  • Candidates for the award must be within 10 years of receiving their PhD and have published their research in Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences (CMES) in 2020;

  • Three awards will be given for a paper published in the Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences between 1/1/2020 through 12/31/2020.


Process:  

  • Authors will be able to identify themselves during the submission process.

  • Authors can also be nominated by the selection committee, which will be made up of 3-4 editorial advisory board members and the co-Editor-in-Chief who oversees the process.

  • Once the nomination committee selects the finalists, the winner(s) will be decided by an expert panel of judges who will review papers based on their scientific content and merits.


Prize:  

  • The winner of the  Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences Young Researcher Award will be granted a cash prize of $1,000 USD each;

  • The winners of the early career authors will receive a plaque and a certificate for the award;

  • The criteria for Young Researchers will be within 10 years of receiving their PhD, discounting career breaks. *

  • The award will be presented at the 2021 International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences (ICCES) in 2021 for a paper published in CMES in 2020.


*discounting career breaks such as maternity leave, paternity leave, or elder care.
+The winner is responsible for all international, federal, state, or local taxes that might be due for prize money. The winner agrees to comply with all tax reporting in accordance with applicable international, federal, state, and local laws.
