Summary
The workplace is a complex and dynamic ecosystem where employees' psychological states and behavioral responses play a pivotal role in shaping individual performance, team collaboration, and organizational success. Positive psychological traits, such as optimism, resilience, engagement, and psychological well-being, can ignite creativity, boost productivity, and enhance job satisfaction. These traits not only empower employees to navigate challenges effectively but also foster innovation and cultivate a healthy organizational culture. Conversely, negative psychological and behavioral responses—such as stress, burnout, anxiety, conflict, or occupational fatigue—can erode employee morale, undermine team cohesion, and pose threats to the organization's long-term effectiveness.
This special issue seeks to delve deeply into the interplay between positive and negative psychological dynamics in the workplace through a psychological lens, systematically examining their antecedents, consequences, and potential interventions. We aim to uncover the underlying mechanisms of these psychological and behavioral responses, such as how individual traits, organizational environments, and external pressures interact to influence employees' mental states. Additionally, we place particular emphasis on the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace and its profound impact on employees' psychological and behavioral responses. For instance, AI technologies that streamline workflows, reduce repetitive task burdens, or support decision-making may enhance employees' sense of autonomy and achievement, thereby fostering positive psychological experiences. However, the adoption of AI may also introduce challenges, such as stress from technological adaptation, diminished job security, or shifts in interpersonal interactions.
We invite submissions on the following topics, including but not limited to:
· The role of positive psychology interventions (e.g., mindfulness training, goal setting, or gratitude practices) in enhancing workplace well-being and employee engagement.
· The short- and long-term effects of negative emotions (e.g., stress, anxiety, anger, or frustration) on individual performance, decision-making quality, and occupational health.
· Psychological mechanisms underlying behavioral responses to workplace challenges, such as conflict management, emotional regulation, or coping strategies.
· The impact of leadership styles (e.g., transformational leadership, servant leadership, or emotionally intelligent leadership) on fostering positive behaviors or mitigating negative emotions.
· What an organizational culture and psychological contracts shape employees' psychological responses and behavioral patterns.
· The influence of positive and negative emotions in the workplace on team dynamics, collaboration efficiency, and innovation capacity.
· Effective strategies for managing workplace stress, preventing burnout, and building psychological resilience.
· The intersection of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives with workplace psychological responses.
· The impact of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the workplace on employees' psychological states, behavioral responses, and organizational dynamics.
· Long-term effects of workplace emotions on employees' career development and organizational performance, based on longitudinal studies.
· Cross-cultural differences and commonalities in workplace psychological and behavioral responses.
