Fuzzy Based Decision Making Approach for Evaluating the Severity of COVID-19 Pandemic in Cities of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

    Abdullah Baz1,*, Hosam Alhakami2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.2, pp. 1155-1174, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.013215

Abstract The World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic on March 11, 2020 stating that it is a worldwide danger and requires imminent preventive strategies to minimise the loss of lives. COVID-19 has now affected millions across 211 countries in the world and the numbers continue to rise. The information discharged by the WHO till June 15, 2020 reports 8,063,990 cases of COVID-19. As the world thinks about the lethal malady for which there is yet no immunization or a predefined course of drug, the nations are relentlessly working at the most ideal preventive systems to contain the infection. The Kingdom… More >

A Model for the Optimization of the Shale Gas Horizontal Well Section Based on the Combination of Different Weighting Methods in the Frame of the Game Theory

    Minxuan Li1, Jing Sun1,*, Dehua Liu1, Yang Li1, Kuidong Li2, Wei Liu2, Jialin Xiao2, Jiani Hu3

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.16, No.5, pp. 993-1005, 2020, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2020.010443

Abstract Existing “evaluation indicators” are selected and combined to build a model to support the optimization of shale gas horizontal wells. Towards this end, different “weighting methods”, including AHP and the so-called entropy method, are combined in the frame of the game theory. Using a relevant test case for the implementation of the model, it is shown that the horizontal section of the considered well is in the middle sweet spot area with good physical properties and fracturing ability. In comparison with the FSI (flow scanner Image) gas production profile, the new model seems to display better abilities for the optimization… More >

Manufacturing Process Selection of “Green” Oil Palm Natural Fiber Reinforced Polyurethane Composites Using Hybrid TEA Criteria Requirement and AHP Method for Automotive Crash Box

    N. S. B. Yusof1,2, S. M. Sapuan1,3,*, M. T. H. Sultan1,4, M. Jawaid1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.8, No.6, pp. 647-660, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2020.08309

Abstract In this study, the best manufacturing process will be selected to build an automotive crash box using green oil palm natural fibre-reinforced polyurethane composite materials. This paper introduces an approach consist of technical aspects (T), the economic point of view (E) and availability (A), and it’s also called as TEA requirement. This approach was developed with the goal of assisting the design engineer in the selection of the best manufacturing process during the design phase at the criteria selection stage. In this study, the TEA requirement will integrate with the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) to assist decision makers or manufacturing… More >

Decision Support Strategy in Selecting Natural Fiber Materials for Automotive Side-Door Impact Beam Composites

    M. A. Shaharuzaman1,2,4, S. M. Sapuan1,3,*, M. R. Mansor2,4, M. Y. M. Zuhri1,3

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.7, No.10, pp. 997-1010, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2019.07529

Abstract The enforcement on sustainable design and environmental-friendly products has attracted the interest of researchers and engineers in the context of replacing metals and synthetic fibers with natural based fibers, especially in the automotive industry. However, studies on sustainable natural fiber material selection in the automotive industry are limited. Evaluation for the side-door impact beam was conducted by gathering product design specification from literature which amounted to seven criteria and it was forwarded to ten decision makers with automotive engineering and product design background for evaluation. The weightage required for decision-making was obtained using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method based… More >

Creative Design of Multi-Layer Web Frame Structure Using Modified AHP and Modified TRIZ Clustering Method

    Zone-Ching Lin1, Chen-Hsing Cheng2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 25-54, 2010, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2010.068.025

Abstract This study considers loadings on the multi-layer web frame structure and uses a novel method of the modified analytical hierarchy process (AHP) combined with modified theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ) clustering to perform the creative structure design. The engineering knowledge of multi-layer web frame structure comprises such issues as vibration, yielding and buckling strength. Using the modified AHP, this study firstly applies the ratios of occurrence numbers of related keywords on different hierarchies to analyze the techniques and functions of multi-layer web frame structure, and finds out the priority order of feasible design decisions. Furthermore, this study also proposes… More >
