Abstract The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) self-organizing network is composed of multiple UAVs with autonomous capabilities according to a certain structure and scale, which can quickly and accurately complete complex tasks such as path planning, situational awareness, and information transmission. Due to the openness of the network, the UAV cluster is more vulnerable to passive eavesdropping, active interference, and other attacks, which makes the system face serious security threats. This paper proposes a Blockchain-Based Data Acquisition (BDA) scheme with privacy protection to address the data privacy and identity authentication problems in the UAV-assisted data acquisition scenario. Each UAV cluster has an… More >

Abstract Petroleum-based materials, such as plastic, are characterized by adverse environmental pollution; as a result, researchers have sought alternative degradable plastics that are environmentally friendly, such as polylactic acid (PLA). PLA has shown great potential to replace petroleum-based plastics. In this study, seven different samples of unmodified Pueraria lobata root powder (PRP) with different contents (i.e., 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 wt%) and three different modified PRPs (i.e., treated with NaOH, NaOH-KH-550, and Formic) were used to reinforce polylactic acid (PLA) via solution casting process. These prepared PRP/PLA composite films were characterized using SEM, FTIR, UV-visible spectra analysis,… More > Graphic Abstract

    Sana Zahir1, Rafi Ullah Khan1, Mohib Ullah1, Muhammad Ishaq1, Naqqash Dilshad2, Amin Ullah3,*, Mi Young Lee4,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.3, pp. 2741-2754, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.037706

Abstract The analysis of overcrowded areas is essential for flow monitoring, assembly control, and security. Crowd counting’s primary goal is to calculate the population in a given region, which requires real-time analysis of congested scenes for prompt reactionary actions. The crowd is always unexpected, and the benchmarked available datasets have a lot of variation, which limits the trained models’ performance on unseen test data. In this paper, we proposed an end-to-end deep neural network that takes an input image and generates a density map of a crowd scene. The proposed model consists of encoder and decoder networks comprising batch-free normalization layers… More >

Abstract Cloud computing (CC) is developing as a powerful and flexible computational structure for providing ubiquitous service to users. It receives interrelated software and hardware resources in an integrated manner distinct from the classical computational environment. The variation of software and hardware resources were combined and composed as a resource pool. The software no more resided in the single hardware environment, it can be executed on the schedule of resource pools to optimize resource consumption. Optimizing energy consumption in CC environments is the question that allows utilizing several energy conservation approaches for effective resource allocation. This study introduces a Battle Royale… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.6, pp. 1445-1464, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.027158

Abstract To address the frequency fluctuation problem caused by the power dynamic imbalance between the power system and the load when a large number of new energy sources are connected to the grid, a two-layer fuzzy control strategy is proposed for the participation of the energy storage battery system in FM. Firstly, considering the coordination of FM units responding to automatic power generation control commands, a comprehensive allocation strategy of two signals under automatic power generation control commands is proposed to give full play to the advantages of two FM signals while enabling better coordination of two FM units responding to… More > Graphic Abstract

    Jinlin Wang1, Jitao Teng3, Yang He1, Hongyu Yang1,*, Yulong Ji2,*, Zhikun Tang4, Ningwei Bai5

    Journal on Internet of Things, Vol.4, No.2, pp. 85-98, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jiot.2022.031043

Abstract The development of modern air combat requires aircraft to have certain intelligent decision-making ability. In some of the existing solutions, the automatic control of aircraft is mostly composed of the upper mission decision and the lower control system. Although the underlying PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) based controller has a good performance in stable conditions, it lacks stability in complex environments. So, we need to design a new system for the problem of aircraft decision making. Studies have shown that the behavior of an aircraft can be viewed as a combination of several basic maneuvers. The establishment of aircraft basic motion… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.3, pp. 2529-2544, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.034623

Abstract Gender analysis of Twitter could reveal significant socio-cultural differences between female and male users. Efforts had been made to analyze and automatically infer gender formerly for more commonly spoken languages’ content, but, as we now know that limited work is being undertaken for Arabic. Most of the research works are done mainly for English and least amount of effort for non-English language. The study for Arabic demographic inference like gender is relatively uncommon for social networking users, especially for Twitter. Therefore, this study aims to design an optimal marginalized stacked denoising autoencoder for gender identification on Arabic Twitter (OMSDAE-GIAT) model.… More >

Data-Driven Probabilistic System for Batsman Performance Prediction in a Cricket Match

    Fawad Nasim1,2,*, Muhammad Adnan Yousaf1, Sohail Masood1,2, Arfan Jaffar1,2, Muhammad Rashid3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.3, pp. 2865-2877, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.034258

Abstract Batsmen are the backbone of any cricket team and their selection is very critical to the team’s success. A good batsman not only scores run but also provides stability to the team’s innings. The most important factor in selecting a batsman is their ability to score runs. It is a generally accepted notion that the future performance of a batsman can be predicted by observing and analyzing their past record. This hypothesis is based on the fact that a player’s batting average is generally considered to be a good indicator of their future performance. We proposed a data-driven probabilistic system… More >

    Fuyin Ni1,2, Kai Li2,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.5, pp. 1203-1221, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.025796

Abstract Unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) with energy storage is commonly based on conventional capacity configuration strategy with power angle control. It has problems such as phase jumping before and after compensation. DC-link cannot continuously emit active power externally. Therefore, this paper presents the compensation strategy of full load voltage magnitude and phase in capacity configuration of UPQC. The topology of UPQC is integrated a series active power filter (SAPF), a shunt active power filter (PAPF) and a photovoltaic-battery energy storage system (PV-BESS). The principle of full load voltage compensation is analyzed based on the PV-BESS-UPQC topology. The magnitude constant of… More > Graphic Abstract

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.5, pp. 2469-2489, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.025497

Abstract In the field of roads, due to the effect of vehicle loads, piezoelectric materials under the road surface can convert mechanical vibration into electrical energy, which can be further used in road facilities such as traffic signals and street lamps. The barium titanate/polyvinylidene fluoride (BaTiO3/PVDF) composite, the most common hybrid ceramic-polymer system, was widely used in various fields because the composite combines the good dielectric property of ceramic materials with the good flexibility of PVDF material. Previous studies have found that conductive particles can further improve the dielectric and piezoelectric properties of other composites. However, few studies have investigated the… More >
