The extracellular secretion of miR-1825 wrapped by exosomes increases CLEC5A expression: A potential oncogenic mechanism in ovarian cancer

    QIAOLING WU1,2, ZHAOLEI CUI3, HONGMEI XIA1, SHAN JIANG1, JING BAI4, ZHUO SHAO4, YANG SUN1,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.47, No.5, pp. 1039-1050, 2023, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2023.027494

Abstract Background: Ovarian cancer (OC) is a leading cause of gynecological cancer-linked deaths worldwide. Exosomal miR-1825 and its target gene C-type lectin domain family 5 member A (CLEC5A) are associated with tumorigenesis in cancers that was further probed. Methods: Exosomal miR-1825 expression in exosomes and its impact on overall survival (OS) prediction were determined using Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) data. Target genes of miR-1825 were searched in five prediction databases and prognostically significant differentially expressed genes were identified. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses were carried out. The… More >

CLEC: Combination Locality Based Erasure Code for Permissioned Blockchain Storage

    Jiabin Wu1,3, Boai Yang2, Yang Liu1, Fang Liu3,*, Nong Xiao1, Shuo Li4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 5137-5150, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.028305

Abstract Building a new decentralized domain name system based on blockchain technology is helping to solve problems, such as load imbalance and over-dependence on the trust of the central node. However, in the existing blockchain storage system, the storage overhead is very high due to its full-replication data storage mechanism. The total storage consumption for each block is up to O(n) with n nodes. Erasure code applied to blockchains can significantly reduce the storage overhead, but also greatly lower the read performance. In this study, we propose a novel coding scheme for blockchain storage, Combination Locality based Erasure Code for Permissioned… More >

Expression and prognosis analyses of Dectin-1 cluster genes in patients with lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and the association with immune checkpoint molecules

    LITING YOU1,#, FEIFEI NA2,#, JUAN ZHOU3, LIN JIAO3, YI ZHOU3,*, BINWU YING3,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.45, No.3, pp. 649-663, 2021, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.013978

Abstract Reviews The Dectin-1 cluster comprises seven members: CLEC-12A, CLEC-12B, CLEC-1A, CLEC-7A, CLEC- 2, CLEC-9A and OLR1. These members have been demonstrated to be involved in the tumorigenesis, progression, and metastasis of several cancers. However, little is known about their roles in human lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). The expression patterns of the Dectin-1 cluster were analyzed via the ONCOMINE and GEPIA databases. We evaluated the prognostic value of the Dectin-1 cluster in patients with LUAD using the Kaplan-Meier plotter and GEPIA. Differential expression was validated with the EMBL-EBI database, and protein expression was analyzed with the HPA database. In addition, protein-protein interaction… More >

CLEC3A gene three polymorphisms and risk of gastric cancer in Northwestern Chinese population

PING YANG, LIJUAN YUAN, SHUJIA PENG, YANMING DONG, LIN YANG, XI’E HU, GUOQIANG BAO*

    BIOCELL, Vol.45, No.1, pp. 103-108, 2021, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.011220

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the association between the CLEC3A gene polymorphisms (rs2735401/rs2293776/ rs2072665) and the gastric cancer risk in the Northwestern Chinese population. A hospital-based case-control study was conducted on 681 cases and 756 healthy controls. Odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were applied to evaluate the association of the CLEC3A polymorphisms on gastric cancer risk. We found that there was no significant association between the CLEC3A polymorphisms and gastric cancer susceptibility, which was detected in the main analysis or stratification analyses of age, gender, and clinical stages. Our findings verified that the CLEC3A polymorphisms are not… More >
