    BIOCELL, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 371-379, 2020, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2020.08893

Abstract UQCRC1 is one of the 10 mitochondrial complex III subunits, this protein has a role in energy metabolism, myocardial protection, and neurological diseases. The upstream mechanism of the UQCRC1 protective effect on cardiomyocytes is currently unavailable. In order to explore the upstream molecules of UQCRC1 and elucidate the protective mechanism of UQCRC1 on cardiomyocytes in more detail, we focused on the nuclease-sensitive elementbinding protein 1 (YB-1). We hypothesized YB-1 acts as an upstream regulatory molecule of UQCRC1. This study found that YB-1 RNAi significantly reduces the expression of the UQCRC1 protein level (p < 0.05) and obviously decreases the mitochondrial… More >

Amentoflavone Suppresses Cell Growth and Invasion in Renal Carcinoma Cells by Activating PPARγ

Kun Fan1,2, Xiaofu Qiu2, Yu Fu2, Kangjian Lin, Huanhui Li2, Guosheng Yang *,1,2

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.14, No.1, pp. 33-45, 2017, DOI:10.3970/mcb.2017.014.035

Abstract This study intends to investigate the role of amentoflavone(AF) in human clear-cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) and to elucidate underlying molecular mechanisms. Materials and Methods: Human RCC cell lines Caki-1 and 786-O were used in this study. Cell proliferation, apoptosis, cell cycle distribution and invasion assays were conducted to analyze the effect of AF against ccRCC in vitro. Xenograft model and pulmonary metastasis animal model were established to evaluate the vivo therapeutic efficacy and against pulmonary metastasis ability of AF, respectively. Results: Our findings revealed that AF selectively suppressed tumor cell proliferation in a dose- and time-dependent manner. Treatment with… More >

Spectral Element Approach for Inverse Models of 3D Layered Pavement

    Chun-Ying. Wu1, R. Al-Khoury2, C. Kasbergen2, Xue-Yan. Liu2, A. Scarpas2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.17, No.3, pp. 163-172, 2007, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2007.017.163

Abstract 3D spectral element method in the article is presented to predict the pavement layer modules using field measurement of Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD). To improve the computational efficiency of the layer-condition assessment, one type of spectral element is proposed to develop the dynamic analysis of 3D multi-layered system subjected to an impulsive load. Each layer in structure is simulated as two-noded layer spectral element or one-noded spectral element in frequency domain. In order to identify the parameters of layered structures, a nonlinear optimization method called Powell hybrid algorithm is employed. The optimization procedure is performed in frequency domain and aims… More >
