    Mohammed Alnusayri1, Ghulam Mujtaba2, Nouf Abdullah Almujally3, Shuoa S. Aitarbi4, Asaad Algarni5, Ahmad Jalal2,6, Jeongmin Park7,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.86, No.3, 2026, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.071804 - 12 January 2026

Abstract This paper presents a unified Unmanned Aerial Vehicle-based (UAV-based) traffic monitoring framework that integrates vehicle detection, tracking, counting, motion prediction, and classification in a modular and co-optimized pipeline. Unlike prior works that address these tasks in isolation, our approach combines You Only Look Once (YOLO) v10 detection, ByteTrack tracking, optical-flow density estimation, Long Short-Term Memory-based (LSTM-based) trajectory forecasting, and hybrid Speeded-Up Robust Feature (SURF) + Gray-Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) feature engineering with VGG16 classification. Upon the validation across datasets (UAVDT and UAVID) our framework achieved a detection accuracy of 94.2%, and 92.3% detection accuracy when More >

Attention Shift-Invariant Cross-Evolutionary Feature Fusion Network for Infrared Small Target Detection

    Siqi Zhang, Shengda Pan*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.84, No.3, pp. 4655-4676, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.064864 - 30 July 2025

Abstract Infrared images typically exhibit diverse backgrounds, each potentially containing noise and target-like interference elements. In complex backgrounds, infrared small targets are prone to be submerged by background noise due to their low pixel proportion and limited available features, leading to detection failure. To address this problem, this paper proposes an Attention Shift-Invariant Cross-Evolutionary Feature Fusion Network (ASCFNet) tailored for the detection of infrared weak and small targets. The network architecture first designs a Multidimensional Lightweight Pixel-level Attention Module (MLPA), which alleviates the issue of small-target feature suppression during deep network propagation by combining channel reshaping,… More >

Object Tracking Algorithm Based on Multi-Time-Space Perception and Instance-Specific Proposals

Jinping Sun*, Dan Li, Honglin Cheng

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.1, pp. 655-675, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.038016 - 29 April 2023

Abstract Aiming at the problem that a single correlation filter model is sensitive to complex scenes such as background interference and occlusion, a tracking algorithm based on multi-time-space perception and instancespecific proposals is proposed to optimize the mathematical model of the correlation filter (CF). Firstly, according to the consistency of the changes between the object frames and the filter frames, the mask matrix is introduced into the objective function of the filter, so as to extract the spatio-temporal information of the object with background awareness. Secondly, the object function of multi-feature fusion is constructed for the… More >

A Framework for Mask-Wearing Recognition in Complex Scenes for Different Face Sizes

Hanan A. Hosni Mahmoud, Amal H. Alharbi, Norah S. Alghamdi*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.2, pp. 1153-1165, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.022359 - 17 November 2021

Abstract People are required to wear masks in many countries, now a days with the Covid-19 pandemic. Automated mask detection is very crucial to help identify people who do not wear masks. Other important applications is for surveillance issues to be able to detect concealed faces that might be a safety threat. However, automated mask wearing detection might be difficult in complex scenes such as hospitals and shopping malls where many people are at present. In this paper, we present analysis of several detection techniques and their performances. We are facing different face sizes and orientation,… More >

Multi-Object Detection of Chinese License Plate in Complex Scenes

    Dan Liu1,3, Yajuan Wu1, Yuxin He2, Lu Qin2, Bochuan Zheng2,3,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 145-156, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.014646 - 23 December 2020

Abstract Multi-license plate detection in complex scenes is still a challenging task because of multiple vehicle license plates with different sizes and classes in the images having complex background. The edge features of high-density distribution and the high curvature features of stroke turning of Chinese character are important signs to distinguish Chinese license plate from other objects. To accurately detect multiple vehicle license plates with different sizes and classes in complex scenes, a multi-object detection of Chinese license plate method based on improved YOLOv3 network was proposed in this research. The improvements include replacing the residual… More >
